Defeated enemies leave behind a countdown timer. When it reaches 0, they will turn into a crystal which will create a light source that helps light up the darkness. Once all enemies turn to crystal, the floor will be completely lit up!
Note: Obtaining the Crystal will only restore HP/MP, but will cause the room the darken. Avoid grabbing the crystals to keep the floor lit.

Horror has some steep cliffs so equipping Movement Abilities like Jump +2 will help you navigate the floor. Female units can also equip Movement +3 learned from Dancer to make traversing the floor easier.
Parts of the map in HORROR have varying heights, so use abilities that can bypass the difference in elevation. Some of Agrias's Holy Sword abilities and Orlandeau's Swordplay abilities are extremely effective in this regard.
There are plenty of narrow areas in this level, so you will need to get rid of enemies to open up the field. Doing this will give you an easier time exploring the map to search for treasures and exits.
The Venetian Shield is a fine piece of armor that halves Fire, Lightning, and Ice damage when equipped. Be sure to pick it up along with the Maximillian and Grand Helm that can also be found here.

Chemist

Ramza in his Gallant Knight job can fill the role of both frontline attacker with Mettle, providing buffs such as Tailwind and Shout. Beowulf is good to have since he can debuff and neuter the last enemy, allowing you to freely explore the floor with your Treasure Hunter unit.
Orlandeau's high speed and powerful Swordplay abilities can deal heavy damage with Divine Ruination or destroy gear with Crush Weapon. He'll be your main offensive unit to take out distant units or particularly tanky enemies.
Rapha's naturally low Bravery makes her the best choice for dedicated Treasure Hunter, while a Black Mage with Arithmeticks can deal heavy damage to all units when set up correctly. Finally, bring a Chemist equipped with a gun and Arts of War so you can debuff or break weapons from range!

White Mage

Both Dancers and Bards can inflict debuffs and buffs with their Dance and Bardsong abilities respectively. Alternatively, you can swap out the Chemist with a White Mage if your team needs more powerful healing.

These tiles have a chance to reward either normal or rare drops, or activate a trap. To increase your chances of getting the rare drops, your dedicated Treasure Hunter unit should have low Bravery.
Rapha is one of the best Treasure Hunters in the game due to her naturally low Bravery, but any unit that you've lowered their Bravery can function as your Treasure Hunter unit to get the rare equipment Maximilian, Venetian Shield, and Grand Helm!
How to Increase or Decrease Bravery
| Pattern | Enemy Types in Party | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Samurai, Ninja | 8 |
| 2 | Dragoon, Cockatrice, Dragon, Blue Dragon, Red Dragon | 8 |
| 3 | Knight, Archer, Black Mage, Chocobo, Black Chocobo, Red Chocobo | 6 - 11 |
| 4 | Time Mage, Summoner, Mystic, Sekhret, Red Panther, Great Hydra, Behemoth | 4 |
Enemies in HORROR are randomized and picked from a pool of enemies based on a pattern, and the amount of enemies are based on the enemy pattern the floor generates.
There are no special recruitable characters in HORROR. However, you can recruit both human units and monsters from the floor if you have a unit with the Entice or Tame abilities respectively.
Reis is one of the best monster recruiters in the game since she naturally has both Tame and Beast Tongue in her base Dragonkin job.
