Both Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy XII take place in the world of Ivalice, but they exist in very different eras. In Final Fantasy XII, Ivalice is thriving under magicite-powered technology, sky pirates, and airships.
By the time of Final Fantasy Tactics, the airships are considered mythical relics, magic is rare, and the world has shifted into a more medieval era, where wars and politics intertwine. The in-game description of the Sidge Weald also states that Moogles, along with other races common during the FFXII era, are now extinct.
“They say the ruins of a lost civilization lie buried beneath the streets of Goug, the Clockwork City. Relics from the age of Saint Ajora, when airships numerous beyond counting filled the skies, and men of iron walked city streets. But the art of crafting such things was lost—if it ever truly existed at all.”
Agrias Oaks's comments about Goug in the dialogue above hint at a time when airships once soared through Ivalice’s skies. Her line, along with the presence of ancient machinery in Goug, suggests that the high-tech era seen in Final Fantasy XII existed long before the events of Tactics.
The Airship Graveyard, which is the site of the final battle against Ultima, is another connection to Final Fantasy XII and is the only reminder of the now lost Golden Age of Ivalice as portrayed in Final Fantasy XII.

Many of the Espers in XII share names, designs, and even themes with the Lucavi bosses from Tactics as well as share existence within the world of Ivalice. While not explicitly confirmed in-game, the strong similarities suggest that the Espers and Lucavi may actually be the same entities, seen at different points in Ivalice's history.
Tactics makes no mention of the Occuria, which suggests their influence over Ivalice has already faded by that time. This absence hints that the Espers may have been freed from their glyph-bound service during the Cataclysm and continued to act independently in the world. Over time, these liberated beings may have become the Lucavi.
...Several years after Kiltia's founding, Saint Ajora began a new teaching, claiming that Faram alone was the one true god, the popularity of this new sect further lessening the power of the Light.
This entry from Sage Knowledge 07 in Final Fantasy XII directly references Saint Ajora, a major figure from Final Fantasy Tactics. In Tactics, Ajora is the founder of the Church of Glabados, the dominant religious force and a central antagonist faction in the game's story.

Revenant Wings, the sequel to FFXII, starts in the Glabados Ruins, which links directly to the Church of Glabados from Final Fantasy Tactics.
This suggests the Church may have existed long before Ramza’s time, hinting that Ajora lived before the events of Final Fantasy XII.

Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift continues the Ivalice saga not long after the events of Final Fantasy XII. Familiar faces like Vaan, Penelo, Montblanc, and Al-Cid all make appearances, cementing A2’s place in the same timeline.
This entry acts as a bridge, showing Ivalice’s state after the events of the mainline game and Revenant Wings and tying together elements of both the Tactics and FFXII.

Illua, the main antagonist in A2, makes a pact with the Time God Zomala, which was first introduced in Final Fantasy Tactics.
She uses this power to transport Luso’s party to Zellea, the Forbidden Land, echoing the same spell Loffrey Wodring will later use to drag Ramza into the Necrohol of Mullonde.
However, it is certain that the power manifested through this means is only an echo of the scion's true power. To evoke the true power of a scion, it would be necessary to harmonize oneself to the scion's being, fusing not only one's purpose with the scion, but one's own body and mind.
Lezaford’s writings reveal that Espers, called Scions in A2, are only partially summoned through pacts, seals, or magickal devices. To fully manifest a Scion’s true power, a summoner must fuse their body and mind with it.
This lore explains how the Scions of Ivalice eventually become the body-possessing Lucavi in Final Fantasy Tactics.

Vagrant Story, originally intended as a standalone title, was later connected to Ivalice through developer interviews and in-game references.
Additionally, mentions of names like Orlandeau, Agrias, and the Durai legacy hint at a shared history, while regions like Valendia and Leá Monde pins the story geographically in the same world.
The Leamonde Entites are Dark-elemental enemies found in Nabreus Deadlands in Final Fantasy XII. These enemies are named after Leá Monde, which is the main setting of Vagrant Story.
The monster's bestiary implies that the Dark, a central force in Vagrant Story, has existed since the early history of Ivalice, with the Entites themselves being created by the Occuria.
A stronger version of the Leamonde Entites called the Vagrant Soul also appears in Final Fantasy XII, and is another reference to Vagrant Story.

The connections between Final Fantasy Tactics, XII, and Tactics A2 are canon, backed by both in-game dialogue and developer interviews.
Vagrant Story further reinforces the shared world by referencing Arazlam Durai, the historian who narrates Tactics, and by using terms like Haeralis and names tied to the War of the Lions.

Both Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and A2 take place in two different settings: the modern world where the main character comes from, and the fantasy world of Ivalice they get transported into.
