It is recommended that you equip Ragnarok, as the sword has one of the highest attack powers in the game. Additionally, Ragnarok casts Shell to its user, which only adds to its versatility in the game.
Ragnarok can be acquired after you've defeated Hashmal in battle, which is the fight previous to this one.

| Abilities | Effects |
|---|---|
Disable
|
Job:
Effect: Channels magick through one's blade to inflict Disable on a distant unit. |
Arm Shot
|
Job:
Effect: An attack that targets the arms, inflicting Disable. |
The Disable status ailment is effective against Ultima, so it is recommended to use either the Disable ability from the Templar job or the Arm Shot from the Machinist job.
The former ability can be used by Beowulf, and the latter ability can be utilized by Mustadio.

It is best to defeat the Ultima Demons first before focusing all your offensive power on Ultima, as they can be dangerous when left alone and can be an obstacle when progressing through the battle.
It is recommended to pick up the crystals left by the Ultima Demons after they're defeated, as they restore 999 to your HP.

| Abilities | Effects |
|---|---|
Gravity
|
Job:
Effect: Magick that conjures gravitational forces, reducing the HP of distant units by a small proportion of their maximum. |
Graviga
|
Job:
Effect: Magick that conjures powerful gravitational forces, reducing the HP of distant units by a large proportion of their maximum. |
Lich (Descending Darkness)
|
Job:
Effect: Summons Lich to unleash Descending Darkness, an attack born of shadow dealing dark damage that reduces the HP of distant foes by a large proportion of their maximum. |
It is recommended that you use abilities like Gravity, Graviga, and Lich to deal out the most optimal damage to Ultima, similar to your previous fight with Hashmal, that is proportionate to her maximum HP.

You can also try forcing Ultima to cast Dispelja, as it takes a lot of time for her to cast the spell. Do note that Ultima will likely cast Dispelja once Alma uses Aegis on your party, so make sure that Alma uses Aegis instead of offensive abilities to force Ultima's hand.
During Ultima's casting time of Dispelja, you can use the allotted time to separate your party members away from each other to avoid the range of the spell and be able to force her into only using Dispelja in battle.

After you've damaged Ultima's HP to a certain threshold, the second phase of the battle will ensue. Your party will continue to have the same amount of HP and status ailments they've incurred during the first phase, so make sure that they are in top condition during the first phase of the fight.
During the second phase of the fight, the Disable status ailment becomes useless, as Ultima will now resist or blocks it outright. Instead of wasting turns trying to inflict Disable, focus on survivability.
If you have Mustadio or Beowulf equipped as a Chemist, they can easily take over as your main party healer for this phase, constantly supplying X-Potions, Elixirs, or High Ethers to sustain the rest of the team while your heavy hitters keep up the pressure.

Similar to the first phase of the battle, it is recommended to cast Gravity, Graviga, and Lich against Ultima to deal damage proportionate to her health. Using these abilities continuously can significantly reduce Ultima's HP.
