What are Errands?

Optional Sidequests

Tavern Errands
Errands are optional sidequests that have no bearing the main story of the game. They should, however, still be accepted and completed since they give rewards that contribute to 100% completion of the game.

This is unlocked after reaching Chapter 2, with more errands becoming available as you progress further in the game. Only generic units can be deployed for errands.

Let Set Amount of Days Pass

Errand Report Ready
Errands are completed after the set amount of days have passed. Once that's done, return to the Tavern where the errand was accepted and open up the Errands menu to view the results.

Levels of Success

Errand Success
When an errand is completed, the result can be a Failure, Success, or Great Success. The level of success achieved will determine the amount of gil and JP earned as well as whether or not you discover a Treasure or Unexplored Land.

To boost your odds of getting a Great Success, always deploy three units including at least one with the recommended job. Abilities equipped to a unit will not have on impact on the outcome.

Gil, JP, Treasure, and Unexplored Land

Reward Description
Gil The amount of gil received from completing an errand depends on the number of days selected along with the Bravery or Faith of the units deployed.
JP Units set out on errands will also gain JP upon completion. The amount received depends on the current jobs of your units and their compatibility with the errand.
Treasure Also known as Artefacts in previous versions of the game, Treasures are non-usable items with descriptions that contribute to the lore and history of Ivalice.
Unexplored Land Units may sometimes end up discovering Unexplored Land or Wonder while out on an errand. These aren't actual areas that can be unlocked but instead extra bits of lore and world-building for the game.

Certain trophies are tied to collecting Treasure and discovering Unexplored Lands so try to find as many of them as you can.
