How to Heal Characters

Add to Watchlist

FF Tactics - How to Heal Characters Top Banner

You can heal characters by using either Healing Magicks or consuming items in Final Fantasy Tactics - The Ivalice Chronicles. Keep reading to see how to heal characters, which Jobs you can use to heal other characters, and what factors can affect your healing!

How to Heal Your Characters

Use Items Like Potions

If you want any of your character to use items like Potions or Phoenix Downs, you need to learn the Item as a Skill fist via the Chemist Job by spending Job Points.

Auto-Potion Skill Is Good for Early Game

The Auto-Potion Reaction Ability learned by the Chemist is good for emergency healing, especially if you don't have much Mages that have healing Magicks.

Use Healing Magick

Once you get the Chemist to Lv. 2, you can unlock the White Mage Job, which can learn spells like Cure, Esuna, and Raise.

You can also get Regenerate as a Reaction Ability giving you passive healing, which is useful for jobs like the Monk or the Knight.

Randomly Learn Healing Skills By Picking Up Crystals

If you don't want to waste time grinding JP, you can also learn Healing Magicks from picking up Crystals by defeating White Mages.

Attack with a Healing Staff

If you have the Healing Staff, you can attack targets with any Physical Attack to heal them. Do note that this can be blocked or evaded just like any other attack.

What Can Affect Healing

The Character's Faith Stat

Make sure your healers have a high Faith Stat as it can make offensive magicks deal more damage, healing magicks restore more HP, and status change magicks more likely to succeed. Do be careful as it can also make enemy magicks deal more damage to you.

How to Increase or Decrease Faith

The Caster's and Target's Zodiac Signs

Having units with a "good" compatibility can increase the healing provided by the caster to the target. If you want Ramza to be a great healer, it is recommended to give him the Pisces Zodiac.

Zodiac Signs and Compatibility Chart

Targets with Reflect Can Bounce Heals

Units with the Reflect Status will not get healed but will instead have the healing bounce off to a different tile. Use this to your advantage by placing units in the tile it will bounce on.

All Status Effects Explained

Undead Enemies Get Hurt By Heals

Unlike other enemies, Undead units will get damaged by healing magicks. Try to group up Undead units with your own units to deal damage to them while healing your own units in one spell!
