Tactical View is a new feature that gives players more control over how they see the battlefield. You can freely rotate the camera, making it easier to read terrain, spot hidden enemies, and plan your movement more effectively.
This update makes it easier to navigate vertical maps and tight corridors, especially when units are stacked or obstructed by terrain.

The Ivalice Chronicles introduces a Fast Forward setting that lets you adjust how fast actions and animations play out during combat.
This is especially useful for speeding up magic and summon animations, which were notoriously long in the original game.

Three difficulty settings are now available at the start of the game, allowing players to choose the level of challenge that suits their playstyle.

The Ivalice Chronicles tweaks the Job system by giving select jobs expanded command sets and updated skill descriptions. This helps diversify strategies, making underused jobs more viable and encouraging different party compositions.

Party management is smoother than ever thanks to Formation Shortcuts, which let you quickly reorder units, swap gear, or adjust jobs without drilling through multiple menus. This makes it easier to prepare before big battles.

New context-sensitive tutorials appear during battles, explaining mechanics like elevation, job skills, or reaction abilities in real time. They’re optional and can be toggled off for veterans, but they provide new players a smoother on-ramp into tactical combat.

Auto Save is now implemented to reduce the risk of lost progress. The game will automatically save during key moments.
A set of smaller QoL improvements further modernize gameplay:

For players who prefer the original experience, the game includes a Classic Version mode. This version combines the 1997 PlayStation graphics and gameplay systems with the updated War of the Lions script and localization.
The Classic mode preserves the look and feel of the original release while maintaining compatibility with the rest of the game’s features.
