List of Contents
| Difficulty | Difference |
|---|---|
| Squire | ・ Story-focused gameplay. ・ Easier battles and forgiving enemies. |
| Knight | ・ Standard difficulty. ・ Balanced challenge for most players. |
| Tactician | ・ Enemies are stronger. ・ Tactical fights require planning and resource use. |
Final Fantasy Tactics can be punishing if you jump in blind, so picking the correct difficulty is key. If you just want to enjoy the story, choose Squire mode for easier battles. For balanced tactical play, go with Knight, while veterans seeking a true test of skill should pick Hero mode.

You don’t need to grind endlessly for EXP since it's recommended to level your squad so that they're strong enough for the next story fight. Random encounters are a safe way to boost EXP, and simple tricks like using Accumulate let you farm without much risk.

| How to Increase or Decrease Bravery | How to Increase or Decrease Faith |
Bravery affects physical skills, while Faith governs magic. High values can make characters powerful, but they also have a drawback where too much Faith makes you vulnerable to spells, while too little Bravery can turn allies into useless units.

Monsters can be recruited into your party through the Orator’s Invite skill. Once recruited, they bring unique abilities that humans can’t access, giving you more tactical options in battle.
You can also breed monsters by having your recruited monsters randomly lay eggs. When an egg hatches, it can turn into any of the three forms in that monster’s family, though higher-tier monsters lay eggs less often

Status effects are some of the strongest tools in any Final Fantasy game, crippling enemies without relying on raw damage. For example, being able to Slow or Stop stop a key enemy can easily turn the tides of a battle.
Combine that knowledge with understanding CT or Charge Time so you can predict turns and strike before the enemy acts.

Job Points (JP) are essential for learning abilities and branching into advanced jobs. Farming JP efficiently saves time and opens up powerful combinations much earlier.

Speed often wins battles and faster characters get more turns, letting them heal, buff, or attack before slower enemies can react. Raising speed through gear or abilities, as well as understanding the CT or Charge Time system, gives you a massive edge in tactical flexibility.

By rotating units in and out, everyone gains EXP and JP, unlocking more jobs across the roster and ensuring you’re never stuck with under-leveled allies. It can be tempting to rely on your strongest fighters, but leaving others on the bench makes them fall behind.

Height and obstacles are building blocks in this game. Archers gain range from higher ground, Mages can snipe safely from ledges, and rivers can block heavy units from advancing. Positioning your troops smartly turns even a weaker team into a very powerful opponent.

Some rare weapons can only be stolen from bosses, while certain side quests only trigger at specific points in the story. If you’re aiming for 100% completion, it’s worth checking our guides before moving forward in the main quest, especially once you hit Chapter 4.
All Missables and Points of No Return
If you ever feel underleveled or broke, take some time to farm battles. Certain enemies give better EXP and Gil than others, so prioritize those encounters instead of grinding aimlessly. Don’t forget that poaching rare monsters can also net you valuable loot you can sell for quick cash.
Money Farming Guide: How to Earn Gil Fast

When unique characters like Agrias and Mustadio join your party, consider building them first to tackle the more challenging content in the game. These characters have unique classes attached to them, giving them access to abilities that regular units cannot unlock.
Unique characters will start joining your party during Chapter 2 and will remain viable throughout the game.

When trying to unlock new Jobs, head over to the Job Change screen and check out the requirements for a particular class. This can help prevent you from spending too much time on a Job while grinding for EXP and JP.
