Final Fantasy Tactics (FF Tactics)

How to Recruit Monsters

Add to Watchlist

FF Tactics - How to Recruit Monsters Top Banner
The Orator or any Job equipped with Speechcraft can recruit monsters by using Entice in Final Fantasy Tactics - The Ivalice Chronicles. Keep reading to see what class and skills you need to recruit monsters, which monsters you can recruit, and how to recruit monsters into your party!

How to Recruit Monsters

Have an Orator in Your Party

Orator Skills Description
Entice A speechcraft skill that persuades a foe to become an ally.
Tame Force a critically wounded enemy monster to become an ally.
Beast Tongue Gain the ability to use Speechcraft against monsters, even if not an Orator.

By having any party member equip the Orator Class, you can use their various Skills to convince monsters to join you. The Orator can be obtained after going through the Chemist Line of Jobs.

Reis is the Best Character for Recruiting Monsters

Reis is the best character to have if you want to Recruit Monsters in the late game. She will have the Beast Tongue and Tame Skills innately and has amazing growths in MAtk and MP.

Do note that she is recruited during a side quest in Chapter 4, so you still need another character to have the Orator Class if you want to recruit monsters for the early to midgame.

You Get Some Monsters as You Progress the Story and Quests

As you progress through the story and certain quests, you can obtain monster party members like Boco and Byblos. They will automatically join your party without the need to use Speechcraft.

Best Build for Recruiting Monsters

Monster Recruitment Unit Setup

Unit Abilities Equipment
Black Mage Speechcraft
Magick Boost
Beast Tongue
Lambent Hat
・Any MAtk boosting Rod

Recruiting monsters scale on the caster's MAtk stat. Make sure you have enough MAtk by having equipment like the Brass Coronet and Dual Wielding two Rods for a ton of MAtk.

If you have learned the Beast Tongue Support Skill and the other Speechcraft Skills, you can swap to other classes and make use of their higher base MAtk, like the Black Mage or Summoner.

Tame Support Ability Build

Unit Abilities Equipment
Reis as Dragonkin Geomancy or Iaido
Beastmaster
Tame
Ninja Gear
Ribbon

If you have the Tame Spell, you can instantly recruit monsters just by lowering their HP to Critical. Do note that the unit who has the Tame Skill equipped must be the one to put the enemy into the Critical state and only use a Regular Attack, or else it will not work.

Reis as a Dragonkin will always have Tame in her support abilities so focus on a more offensive build with Geomancy for damage or Iaido for a support focus build. Beastmaster will also grant a huge buff to a monster ally as long as she stands next to it.
