Acquire Pickaxe from Carpenter
To start harvesting Bog Iron, you must first obtain a Pickaxe tool by crafting it through the Carpenter. Only then will you be able to head out into the open world and start interacting with Bog Iron resource nodes.
A Pickaxe I is enough to harvest Bog Iron. To craft a Pickaxe I, you'll need 2 Torn Sail and 1 Broken Plank.
Travel to Gathering Locations and Harvest
Travel to one of the gathering spots you can find in your map; the Brown Ore icons indicate the Bog Iron spots.
Once you've arrived in one of these locations, simply approach the area of interest, click on the harvest prompt, and complete the mini-game that will appear.
Turn on Auto Harvest
You can turn on the Auto Harvest feature in the settings menu to harvest resources without playing the mini-game. Although this is easier, you'll harvest longer and get fewer resources per node.

Found Around Sainte-Anne
Bog Iron can be found in the Red Isle, the starting region of the game where Sainte-Anne is. There are some Bog Iron around Sainte-Anne and on surrounding islands.
Interactive Map and Points of Interest
No Harvest Prompt Showing Up
If you've arrived at a marked location, check if there are any sparkling spots on the cliffs within the area; sometimes the ore nodes don't exactly line up with the map spot.
If you can't find any sparkling spots nearby, it's likely that the resource was already gathered by another player, so it's best to just go on to another location or come back another time.

Refine to Get Cast Iron Ingot
You can use Bog Iron to craft Cast Iron Ingots, which is a Refined Material used to craft higher quality items. You can refine Bog Iron to Cast Iron Ingots by visiting the Refinery.
Crafting Material
Bog Iron is a crafting material for some items. For example, the Culverin ship weapon requires 6 Bog Iron to craft in the Blacksmith.
