Dead Space Remake (2023)- LeviathanLeviathan
The Leviathan is a shuttle-sized necromorph that inhabits the USG Ishimura's food storage bay. The giant flesh-colored beast resembles a mouth with three tentacles surrounding it. It attacks by whipping its tentacles at you, then swiping sideways to sweep you off your feet.

The Leviathan Tips and Strategies

Visit the Store and Bench to Prepare

Bench

Before starting the Leviathan fight, stock up on resources at the nearby Store in the Hydroponics Central Hub and upgrade your weapons at the Bench in the West Vats Maintenance Room. Doing this will increase your chances of taking the Leviathan down and ensure you have enough healing and firepower to get through the fight.

Prioritize Using the Plasma Cutter and Pulse Rifle

Dead Space Remake - Prioritize Using the Plasma Cutter and Pulse Rifle
When fighting the Leviathan, we recommend using the Plasma Cutter and Pulse Rifle due to their consistent damage output, accurate shots, and adequate ammo capacity, which are all excellent against the Leviathan's constantly-switching weak points.

To round out your loadout for the fight, consider also taking the Line Gun and Contact Beam due to their damage output and accuracy at medium to long ranges.

Grab Loot with Kinesis Before Starting the Fight

Since the boss fight doesn't start until you begin flying around in zero gravity, you can pick up the drops around the Leviathan's boss arena with Kinesis. Doing this removes the stress of picking items up and managing your inventory during the Leviathan fight.

Focus on Tentacles in Phase One

In the first phase of the fight, the Leviathan primarily thrusts at Isaac with its tentacles. Strafe sideways to avoid these attacks and shoot at the cluster near the base of the tentacles to take them down. You can also use the nearby explosive canisters to deal damage while conserving ammo.

Deal with Bomb Pods in Phase Two

After dealing with the first three tentacles, the Leviathan starts spitting bomb pods toward Isaac. Use Kinesis to throw the pods back at the Leviathan's mouth to clear them from the room while dealing damage. In particular, we recommend throwing back the first, third, and fifth pods, as these will collide with bomb pods about to leave the Leviathan's mouth, dealing additional damage.

When the Leviathan exposes its central mouth following these bomb pod attacks, focus your fire toward the sack in its gullet to deal damage to the massive Necromorph.

Prioritize the Central Mouth in Phase Three

After dealing enough damage to the Leviathan in Phase Two, it begins using tentacle and bomb pod attacks simultaneously while releasing toxic gas that drains Isaac's oxygen meter.

To quickly get through this phase of the fight and take down the Leviathan, prioritize dealing damage toward the Necromorph's central mouth. We recommend only targeting the tentacles if they're an easier target to hit.

Death by The Leviathan

Splattered Isaac

When Isaac is hit by the Leviathan's tentacle or bomb pods at low health, he dies with his remains splattering and floating around in the arena's zero-gravity.
