For players new to the Dead Space franchise, Necromorphs are the anthropomorphic horrors that Isaac Clarke will have to kill or evade in order to survive aboard the USG Ishimura. Follow the bloody scrawl on the wall during the game's opening sequence and cut off their limbs to greatly reduce their threat during combat.
Note: Each limb that you cut will have different effects. Cutting off a leg reduces their movement speed while cutting off a sharpened arm makes them less deadly. Stay calm and dismember enemies to combat their melee aggression.
If you want to optimize your damage output against most Necromorphs, we suggest aiming your shots toward their groin. Doing this allows you to hit their body and both legs simultaneously, amplifying the damage of each of your shots.

Alongside the traditional cutting weapons that Isaac employs, you also have access to the Stasis and Kinesis Modules, which you acquire as you progress through the Ishimura. Once unlocked, these will greatly help when trying to control the flow of combat in Dead Space Remake.
Use Stasis to slow down combat encounters and buy yourself time to breathe and reposition, especially if there's a nearby Stasis Recharge Station. Use Kinesis as an extension of your combat abilities, flinging severed limbs, explosive canisters, and other objects to maim and kill your enemies.
Dead Space Remake will also introduce brand new alt-fire mechanics for the majority of the weapons in the game. Use their powerful crowd control abilities alongside your trusty Stasis Module to take out multiple enemies at once.
Best Weapon Loadouts and Combos
Dead Space Remake is bringing back Kinesis from Dead Space 2, you can now send enemies flying and impale them with their own limbs or other objects like poles.
Slashers are one of the most common enemies in the game thus giving you an almost infinite supply of blades to throw with kinesis.
How to Pin Enemies: Raise the Stakes Trophy Guide
Using melee is one efficient way to deal with enemies especially when you're trying to save ammo.
To melee effectively, dismember a necromorph's legs if they have a pair, and stomp on them while avoiding their slowed attacks.
For each type of Necromorph, find a way to reliably deal with it without taking any damage.
There are a limited number of enemy types in the game, so having a method which you can use consistently will ensure that you don’t have to take a hit each time you’re against a certain type

We recommend prioritizing spending your Credits on Suit Upgrades above any other item in the Store. Each Suit Upgrade improves your damage resistance and increases the number of inventory slots you have, always making them worthwhile purchases.
The two best long-term upgrades you can work toward unlocking are Health Upgrades for your RIG and Damage upgrades for the Plasma Cutter. With enemies taking more punishment and dealing more damage as the game goes on, increasing your health and damage output to improve your survivability is never a bad idea.
In addition, buying Health Upgrades for your RIG at the Bench fully restores Isaac's HP. Remember this tip whenever you find yourself severely wounded with a lack of Health Recovery items but have a spare Power Node on hand.
Keep your Credits high by selling every Valuable item you come across and trading away your unused Air Cans.
Valuables have no other purpose outside of being high-value items, so you can safely sell these items to free up your inventory and gain plenty of Credits. In addition, Oxygen Recharge Stations are commonplace in airless environments, so you can also safely sell most of your unused Air Cans without any problems.
While the Contact Beam is one of the most powerful weapons you can find in the Dead Space Remake, finding its ammo is even more valuable as it sells for a lot of credits at the Store. Purchase the Contact Beam early in your playthrough to get its ammo to spawn, and sell them for easy credits during the early to mid-game levels.
In addition to the loot you find scattered throughout the USG Ishimura, Isaac will be able to stomp on Necromorph corpses and supply boxes in order to gather credits, ammo, and medical supplies. If you find yourself running low on supplies, pulp the next set of Necromorphs you kill for a quick resupply.
Do note that most of the ammo you get from stomping on your enemies will be tied to your current loadout. If you find yourself not using certain guns in your loadout, it would be best to simply swap them out so that the ammo drops from enemies are for the weapons you use on the regular.
The Security Clearance system is a new feature added to the remake, which replaces using Power Nodes to open locked doors. As you progress through the story, the level of your Security Clearance also increases, allowing you to access more rooms that may contain loot that could replenish your resources.

Some sections of the ship will get confusing, especially with the remake's addition of dynamic lighting, darker shadows, and volumetric fog. Navigate your way through the chaos using the built-in Locator in your suit that shows you the path to your next objective at the push of a button.
For players who like scrounging up everything from extra ammunition, health packs, and collectibles, the rule of thumb will always be to head opposite the objective's direction. This is one of the easiest ways to find extra loot, especially during the early stages of the game.
As you explore the hallways of the USG Ishimura, you will be able to encounter circuit breakers. These circuit breakers are like a mini-puzzle that forces you to route power to one mandatory system while making you choose between two optional systems, such as Lights and Life Support, that will effectively change the flow of gameplay for the rest of the section.

Under Settings > Gameplay, you can find a setting called Single Press Quick Time Events. Sometimes, Necromorphs will latch onto Isaac and deal damage until they are knocked off, which you can only do by mashing a button repeatedly. For those who prefer to save their controllers and fingers from wear and tear, this setting will allow these quick-time events to be resolved by simply hitting the button once.
Another useful quality-of-life setting, Automatic Weapon Swapping, can also be activated from Settings > Gameplay. When this setting is on, Isaac will immediately swap to the next available weapon when he runs completely out of ammo for the current weapon.
