The Hive Mind is the only alien type Necromorph encountered in Dead Space Remake (2023), it is also responsible for directing all Necromorph activity. Read on to learn the different ways on how to defeat this Necromorph.

The Hive Mind is the alien that telepathically controls all the other necromorphs. It’s a building-sized creature that dwells inside the planet. Like other necromorphs, the Hive Mind has several yellow sacs that are much weaker and less protected than the rest of its body.

How to Beat The Hive Mind

Weapon Recommendation

We recommend using weapons with fast fire rates, medium to high range and ammo capacity like the Plasma Cutter,the Pulse Rifle, or the Line Gun as the Hive Mind moves quite a lot for a necromorph with very specific weak spots.

Shoot its Yellow Sacs

In all the phases of the Hive Mind fight, your only goal is to shoot its yellow sacs to incapacitate it. These are located on its main face in the first phase of the fight and the central torso in the second phase.

Avoid the Acid Pods

During the first phase of the fight, the Hive Mind will spit sacs that contain acid.

Run away from these sacs as the Hive Mind will slam its tentacle on it.

If you are near the area of effect, this will deplete your health for a short ammount of time.

Dealing With Other Necromorphs

Dealing with other necromorphs

During the second phase of the fight, the Hive Mind will call other necromorphs to attack you.

You can use almost any weapon in your inventory to deal with these necromorphs, or you can use the exploder's sac to deal with the others.

Using the exploder's sac can be a bit overwhelming but it pays off for its efficiency.

Run From Tentacle Slams and Avoid the Acid Spit

Throughout the third phase of the fight, the Hive Mind will spit an acid wall that divides the fight area in two.

After this acid spit, the Hive Mind will do four tentacle slams that always alternate left and right depending on which tentacle it started slamming with,

To dodge the tentacle slams, wait for the Hive mind to wind up then run in a diagonal direction of either left or right.

If the Hive Mind winds up to the left, run diagonally to the right and vice versa.

Use an Exploder's Sac

Additionally, you can throw an Exploder's sac on the Hive Mind to shorten the third phase of the fight.

Doing this deals damage on multiple sacs on the Hive Mind.

Shoot the Last Sac in the Final Phase

In the final phase of the fight, the Hive Mind will grab you and will gradually pull you close to its mouth, where a sac is located.

Use a Pulse Rifle for this phase as the Hive Mind will move you, messing your aim.

If you fail to shoot the final sac, Isaac will be ripped apart.

Death from The Hive Mind

Isaac is Bitten and Ripped to Death

In the final phase of the fight the Hive Mind will pull Isaac using its tentacle, and he will have to shoot the remaining sac on its mouth.

Failure to do so will result with the Hive Mind locking his arms in its mouth and pulling him out, dismembering him; and it does it for the second time on his torso.
