How to Beat Brutes

Using Stasis

Brutes are fast and armored on their front side, make sure to utilize the use of Stasis to slow them down before proceeding to shoot them.

Target Weak Spots

Along with using stasis, an efficient way to deal with a Brute is by targetting the yellow sacs on its the back.

Shooting the sacs on its shoulders and legs seperates a limb from the Brute, making it slower and easier to kill.

Brute Variants

Super-Brutes

The Super-Brute is so strong that even while slowed down with stasis blasts, it will continue moving at a disturbing rate.

Super-Brute Encounters

Chapter 9

Near the end of Chapter 9 is where Isaac first encounters a Super-Brute.

With the little space that there is during the encounter, we recommend saving stasis and Contact Beam ammo or Pulse Rifle ammo.

When the fight starts, it is best to cast stasis on the Super-Brute, then proceed to shoot the sacs behind the Brute using a Contact Beam or the Pulse Rifle's alternate fire.

A single shot to a Brute's sac with the Contact Beam's alternate fire can dismember its arm almost instantly on easy difficulty.

Chapter 12

The second and last encounter Isaac has with the Super-Brute is at Chapter 12.

The space for the encounter is comparatively larger than the previous one, the player can either stick to the same strategy of the previous encounter, or maintain some distance while shooting the Brute's weak spots in intervals.

Difference with Standard Variant

Through their appearance, the Super-Brute has darker skin and glowing eyes. Additionally, as Super-Brutes are faster than their standard variant, they still move a bit fast even when in stasis.

Death from Brutes

Isaac is Roughly Ripped Apart

If Isaac is hit by a Brute when low on health, it will chomp his head off and rip his body in half.
