Terrence Kyne's Backstory

Early Life

Terrence Kyne was a Chief Science Officer at USG Ishimura, a devout member of Unitology, and an expert in Black Marker. The church chose him to serve in Ishimura.

Terrence Kyne's Role

Necromorph Outbreak

Kyne's initial excitement about reassignment to USG Ishimura was replaced with horrors as he watched the ship fall on Marker's necromorphs. Kyne tried to handle the situation by confronting the Captain as the Necromorphs had taken over the ship, and the Communications Array had been destroyed (presumably by Mathius). Kyne proclaimed Mathius unfit for duty and tried imprisoning him when he said he wanted to carry the Marker back to Earth.

Arrival of USG Kellion

A support team, including Isaac Clarke, arrived at the Ishimura aboard the USG Kellion as Kyne was still trying to devise a solution for this issue. Around this time, Kyne stopped sabotaging the ship thanks to the assistance of his late wife Amelia, a hallucination brought on by the Marker.

Kyne Meeting Isaac

Kyne called Isaac and begged him to assist in repairing the shuttle and returning the Marker after observing Isaac's movement through the ship and knowing that he was trying to fix the Executive Shuttle using the singularity core from the USM Valor.

Isaac followed Kyne's instructions and went to see him. Kyne showed Isaac a video of the Hive Mind and informed Isaac that it was he who had damaged the ship. While Isaac carried the Marker onto the shuttle after it was repaired, Kyne moved it to the cargo bay and prepped it for takeoff.

His Demise

Right when Dr. Kyne and Isaac are about to meet in the cargo bay, he is shot by Kendra Daniels, who was revealed to be a covert agent of the Earth government tasked to retrieve and bring the Marker to Earth.
