Hunter
The Hunter is the result of Dr. Challus Mercer's inhumane experiments, which relentlessly chases Isaac throughout the Ishimura. While this Necromorph cannot be killed by dismemberment, as it regenerates after a short period, removing its limbs and using Stasis often buys enough time for players to escape its grasp. |

As revealed in the Premeditated Malpractice Side Mission, the Hunter was formerly mining contractor Brant Harris, a previous patient of doctors Nicole Brennan and Challus Mercer.
During his time on the Ishimura, he was manipulated and experimented on by Mercer. The doctor inserted "materials" into Harris' brain, made him steal certain minerals from the Mining Deck, and performed further experimentation on him inside the Hydroponics Deck.
These experiments would eventually culminate in him becoming the Hunter, which now tracks Isaac down and relentlessly pursues him throughout the Ishimura.

General Tips Against The Hunter |

|
Since you cannot kill the Hunter in most encounters, the best way to deal with the Necromorph is to dismember its limbs before using Stasis to slow it down. Removing the Hunter's limbs and affecting it with Stasis nullifies the threat it poses, slows down its regeneration, and buys you plenty of time until you can safely escape from its grasp.
In particular, we recommend using the Plasma Cutter, Line Gun, Ripper, or Force Gun to deal with the Hunter due to their strong dismemberment and knockdown capabilities.
During encounters with the Hunter, we recommend looking around for nearby environmental objects that you can use against it. Use Kinesis to launch heavy furniture, explosive canisters, sharp objects, and Stasis tanks to damage and slow down the Hunter while conserving ammo.
In situations where other Necromorphs accompany the Hunter, we recommend dealing with them first and only using Stasis or dismembering the Hunter's legs to slow it down. Taking down quicker Necromorphs first, such as Slashers and Twitchers, will make it easier to focus on dealing with the Hunter afterward.

1 | Take Out the Lurkers Once the Hunter arrives, quickly dismember its legs before taking out the Lurkers that spawn around the arena. Killing these annoying Necromorphs will allow you to focus on dealing with the Hunter afterward. |
2 | Lure the Hunter to the Cryo Chamber Once the Lurkers are dealt with, lure the Hunter to the Cryo Chamber in the center of the room and use Stasis to keep it in place. |
3 | Activate the Cryo-Chamber After keeping the Hunter in place with Stasis, run to the Cryogenics Control Room and activate the console to initiate Cryo Freeze and subdue the Hunter. |

1 | Dismember and Delay the Hunter After starting the initial engine test-fire, the Hunter will ambush you inside Shuttle Bay Controls. Quickly dismember and delay the Hunter with Stasis to give yourself time to escape the room. |
2 | Thin Out the Ambushing Necromorphs As you leave the control room, several Necromorphs will begin to spawn around the Shuttle Bay. Take them out one by one while avoiding the Hunter. |
3 | Lure the Hunter to the Back of the Shuttle After thinning out the other Necromorphs, lead the Hunter toward the back of the executive shuttle. Cut off the Hunter's legs and use Stasis to keep them in place. |
4 | Test-Fire the Engines to Kill the Hunter Once the Hunter is positioned and suspended behind the shuttle, run back to Shuttle Bay Controls and start the engine test-fire to kill the Hunter for good. |
Chapter 10: End of Days Walkthrough
When the Hunter hits Isaac at low health, it begins repeatedly impaling him with its sharp appendages. Afterward, the brutal Necromorph cuts off Isaac's limbs and head before tearing his body in half.
