Note that these suggestions are based solely on the boss armor. We will manually test the different damage types as our team progress through the game.
Although Lu Hongliu's mitigations to the three weapon damage types aren't significantly different, she has slightly lower mitigation to Blunt damage compared to Slashes and Stabs.

Burning Flames

Lu Hongliu flinches when inflicted with Burn, and these are your options to increase Burn buildup. You'll most likely not have the Burning Flames spell yet if you haven't progressed through Doomwillow Beach before attempting to fight Lu Hongliu.
Alternatives include throwing Fire Pots or Fiery Flying Daggers to build up Burn from a distance. However, given Lu Hongliu's swift movements, your throwables may not reach her in time once she starts moving around.
Lu Hongliu will remain stationary during her sideward blood vomit, giving you an opportunity to get some attacks in. Try to remain distant from her but not too far, so you'll have time to sprint toward her to deal damage.
Lu Hongliu remains immobilized for about 7 seconds after her move when her HP drops to around 50%. It's best to wait until the move ends before dishing out damage, though you can try to land a few hits while she's spewing blood during the attack.

| 100% HP | HP Reaches 50% |
| Moves | Details |
|---|---|
| Swift Charge |
Lu Hongliu crosses her arms, then dashes toward you. Dodge forward before she makes contact to avoid the attack. This is usually followed by her lunge attack. |
| Lunge Attack |
Lu Hongliu jumps and slashes twice in quick succession upon landing. Dodge forward diagonally to get behind her, as dodging straight forward might leave you stuck in front of her and get hit to her attack. |
| Blood Vomit (Side to Side) |
Lu Hongliu spews blood from her right to her left. You can easily dodge the attack by dodging left before the blood reaches you. You can also sprint toward her and land some attacks, since she'll remain stationary for the entire duration of this move. |
| Blood Vomit (Upward) |
Lu Hongliu spews blood upward. You'll want to dodge the side, then away from her, as it'this move is usually followed by her head smash attack. |
| Head Smash |
Lu Hongliu repeatedly smashes her head into the ground, using the beak coming out of her head to deal damage. Dodge each attack backward to avoid them. |
| Quick Claw Combo |
This move consists of five consecutive downward claw strikes. Dodge backward for each attack, but watch out for of the double claw strike that follows the initial hit. |
| Consecutive Claw Strikes |
This move also has five conseucitve claw strikes, but the speed of this combo is slower than the Quick Claw Combo. Dodge backward for each attack. |
| Repeated Ground Slams |
Lu Hongliu slams the ground in quick succession, finishing with a final slam using both hands. Dodge backward to avoid each slam. |
| Grab Attack |
Lu Hongliu grabs and bites you. This attack deals four instaces of damage, so dodge sideways to avoid the full sequence. |
| Ground Slam |
Lu Hongliu stands to gain momentum, then slams the ground with both hands. You can dodge backward to avoid the attack, or dodge forward just before the slam lands to get behind her and deal damage. |
| Sideward Claw Strike |
Lu Hongliu lifts her left arm and strikes downward. Dodge backward to avoid the attack, or dodge forward to get behind her. However, this move may chain into other attacks, so anticipate when to dodge forward for to get an attack in, or dodge backward to stay on the defensive. |
| Moves | Details |
|---|---|
| Violent Tantrum | Video is sped up to x1.75 speed. When she reaches about 50% HP, Lu Hongliu stands up and unleashes a sequence of attacks: she strikes repeatedly in front of her, then lets out a roar that flinches you if you're nearby. This is then followed by a blood vomit, a head smash into the ground, and ending it with her unburrowing her head that deals damage. It's best to avoid getting close during this entire move and wait until she unburrows her head, as she'll be stationary for a moment, giving you a good opportunity to land multiple hits before she resumes her attacks. You can also try to get a few hits in during her blood vomit, but be ready to dodge just before she follows up with the head smash. |
| Tracking Blood Vomit |
Lu Hongliu spews blood toward you, following your location. The blood moves slowly, so sprint sideward to avoid the attack. |
| Leaping Ground Smash |
Lu Hongliu leaps into the air and slams into the ground with great force. Dodge forward just before she hits the ground to get behind her and deal damage, as she'll remain stationary for a bit after landing. |
The boss area is located to west of Shu Sanctum, where you'll have to go through the residential area past the river. There is a tree that can be kicked before the boss area to create a bridge between Luo Courtyard and Shu Sanctum.
