Madness Explained

Madness Affects Red Mercury Lost

Madness Level Red Mercury Lost
Less than 50% Small amount of Red Mercuries
50% to 90% Large amount of Red Mercuries
90% to 99% All Red Mercuries
Max Madness All Red Mercuries and Inner Demon Spawns

Madness affects the amount of Red Mercury dropped upon death and increases as you reach certain thresholds. All Red Mercury is lost once you reach 90% Madness or above.

Red Mercury Farming Guide

Damage is Affected at 90% Madness

Once you reach at least 90% Madness, this will increase the damage dealt and damage received until you completely cleanse your Madness or have it below 90%.

Inner Demon Spawns at Max Madness

Demon Manifested

During Max Madness, an Inner Demon will spawn at the black puddle where you are supposed to retrieve your Red Mercury after dying. You will need to defeat this enemy to be able to retreive what you lost, get a reward, and remove the Madness status.

Node Description
Whirlwind - Variant IIWhirlwind - Variant II While at above 90% Madness, Whirlwind inflicts Poise Break buildup when used with Skyborn Might.
Swift ResilienceSwift Resilience While at above 50% Madness, you take greatly reduced damge while performing Swift Draws and Swift Draws also become much more difficult to interrupt. ^Swift Draw - Switch weapons while you have ample Skyborn Might to instantly activate the skill of the newly equipped weapon.
ConversionConversion Swift Draws are more potent while at above 50% Madness. While at above 90%, Switft Draws become even more potent. Using a weapon Swift Draw on an enemy in melee range also recovers a small amount of health.
Steel ResolveSteel Resolve While at above 50% Madness, you gain 1 stack of Skyborn Might upon Deflecting. ^Deflect - Blocking the enemy's weaopn at the perfect time deflects the enemy's move fully.
AlacrityAlacrity While at above 50% Madness you gain 1 stack of Skyborn Might upon using Alacrity.^Alacrity - While casting certain Spells, meld into the void when attacked, evading damage.
Unbroken FocusUnbroken Focus While at above 90% Madness, the buff provided by Biding Time will not decay below 3 stacks.
Health SiphonHealth Siphon While at above 90% Madness, the final strike of weapon light attack combos restores some health on hit.
Fury of the SkybornFury of the Skyborn While at above 50% Madness, the Skyborn Might cost of casting Echo-type Spells is reduced by 1 stack. ^Skyborn Might - Used to cast Spells, Swift Strikes, and Swift Draws.
Rapid TemperanceRapid Temperance While at above 50% Madness, Temperance accelerates its effects on your weapon, enhancing them faster than usual.
ImpactImpact While at above 50% Madness, you gain increased Feathering Attack Power (provided your weapon has Feathering Attack Power).
Blink Kick - Variant IBlink Kick - Variant I While at above 90% Madness, Blink Kick restores stamina when used with Skyborn Might.
Crescent Moon - Variant IICrescent Moon - Variant II While at above 90% Madness, Crescent Moon inflicts Burn buildup when used with Skyborn Might.
Furious Stab - Variant IFurious Stab - Variant I While at above 90% Madness, Furious Stab inflicts Blight buildup when used with Skyborn Might.
Rock PlumeRock Plume While at above 90% Madness, gaining Fleetness also increases your Resilience. ^ Resilience - Renders your attacks more difficult to interrupt.
Spear Flurry - Variant ISpear Flurry - Variant I While at above 90% Madness, Spear Flurry becomes more difficult to interrupt when used with Skyborn Might.
Ascending WrathAscending Wrath While at above 90% Madness, the final attack of a One-Handed Sword light attack combo grants 1 stack of Skyborn Might if it hits an enemy. ^Skyborn Might - Used to cast Spells, Swift Strikes, and Swift Draws.
Swift Lunge - Variant ISwift Lunge - Variant I While at above 90% Madness, Swift Lunge inflicts Frostbite buildup when used with Skyborn Might.
Spinning Kick - Variant IISpinning Kick - Variant II While at above 90% Madness, Spinning Kick gains increased potency and makes it quicker to open up enemies for Obliterate attacks when used with Skyborn Might.
Blade Dance - Variant IIBlade Dance - Variant II While at above 90% Madness, Blade Dance inflicts Paralysis buildup and exposes your enemy's Vulnerabilities further when used with Skyborn Might.
Whirling Flurry - Variant IIWhirling Flurry - Variant II While at above 90% Madness, this move becomes faster, usable in quick succession, and increases your Resilience when used with Skyborn Might.
Shadow Lunge - Variant IIShadow Lunge - Variant II While at above 90% Madness, Shadow Lunge inflicts Poise Break buildup when used with Skyborn Might.
Blademaster - Variant IIBlademaster - Variant II Restoration effect becomes more potent while at above 90% Madness. ^ Clash - Clash weapons with your enemy, deflecting all of the incoming damage.
