Best Discipline Skills per Weapon Type

Best Dual Blades Disciplines

Node Description
BlademasterBlademaster Use with Skyborn Might to gain Bladeborn buff. Performing a successful Clash during Bladeborn restores some health.
Bladeborn - Makes your Dual Blades light attacks even swifter.
Sudden StrikeSudden Strike Advance forward and strike while revolving. Use with Skyborn Might for greater potency.

The best discipline skill to get for the Dual Blades is the Blademaster, as it provides faster light attacks and great health recovery when Clashing for a duration.

Alternatively, Sudden Strike is also a great discipline skill that is capable of exposing vulnerability on hit and Clashing to give you more Skyborn Might stacks once you get the Variant I and Variant II nodes.

Best Axe Discipline Skills

Node Description
RampageRampage Relies on the axe's natural heft to deliver powerful cleaves.
Use with Skyborn Might for greater potency.
Colossal SmashColossal Smash Raise your axe high before bringing it crashing down.
Use with Skyborn Might to create a morass of red mercury, causing Corruption to buildup to enemies within it.

Rampage is the best discipline skill for Axes as it deals huge damage while also exposing vulnerability and life leech for staggering effects against humanoids and maximum sustainability.

On the other hand, Colossal Smash can proc both Corruption and Burning buildups to deal huge burst damage and lingering DoT effects.

Block Alternative Discipline Skill

Node Description
BlockBlock Raise your axe to defend against enemy attacks. Greatly reduces the damage of enemy attacks.

If you want to focus on parry timings, Block is a great axe discipline skill as well since executing it correctly allows you to perform the third and fourth light attack to help you recover stamina and earn Skyborn Might stacks faster if you have Thunderous Cleave and Tide Turner slotted in.

Best Longsword Disciplines

Node Description
Sword CounterSword Counter Raise your blade to block the enemy's attack. Block at the perfect moment to Deflect the attack instead.
Deflect - Blocking the enemy's weapon at the perfect time deflects the enemy's move fully.
Crescent ArcCrescent Arc Step backwards to quickly distance yourself from the enemy. Use at the opportune time to trigger Shimmer. Use with Skyborn Might for greater potency.

The best Longsword discipline skill is Sword Counter due to its Deflecting capabilities that enable you to launch counterattacks and expose vulnerabilities to give you openings for performing powerful moves.

If you want to focus on dodging, Crescent Arc is the perfect discipline skill for that, as it provides various ways to weave combo attacks while also enabling Shimmer to help you gain Skyborn Might stacks.

Best Spear Disciplines

Node Description
Solar LeapSolar Leap Leap forward with great force to strike a fierce blow. Converts your Boldheart stacks into Skyborn Might. Use with Skyborn Might for greater potency.
Aerial BulwarkAerial Bulwark Grip your spear in a defensive stance, then leap into the air with a twirl of your spear. When used as the enemy strikes, you can evade attacks and launch a counter. Use with Skyborn Might for greater potency.

For Spears, the best discipline skill would be Solar Leap as it deals huge damage when used with Skyborn Might stacks, while also paired with the ability to convert Boldheart stacks into Skyborn Might.

The default skill, Aerial Bulwark, is not to be underestimated as it also provides large Skyborn Might stacks while also procing Fleetness for even more Skyborn Might.

Spearveil Alternative Discipline Skill

Node Description
SpearveilSpearveil Leap back to create distance while gripping your spear firmly. Skillful use allows for a swift counterattack.
Use with Skyborn Might for greater potency.

Alternatively, Spearveil is a high skill, high reward discipline skill since you will need to practice your parry timings to fully utilize the counterattack effects of this skill.

Best One-handed Sword Disciplines

Node Description
Slicing ZephyrSlicing Zephyr Soar on the air current, charge forward while spinning, and strike all around you. Then, harness your momentum to deliver a powerful sweeping slash. Use with Skyborn Might for greater potency.
Sudden StrikeSudden Strike Advance forward and strike while revolving. Use with Skyborn Might for greater potency.

Lastly, the best One-handed Sword discipline skill is the Slicing Zephyr due to its ability to Clash and the large AoE knock-back against humanoid enemies with its follow-up attack to give you openings for burst damage.

Sudden Strike is also a great discipline skill for procing Obliterate when used with Skyborn Might while also giving you opportunities to weave light combos in between attacks.
