Axes are slow and heavy, perhaps the slowest of all the weapon types. What makes up for its slowness is its ability to chain combos seamlessly through cycling your Light and Heavy attacks with your Weapon Skills and Discipline.
In addition, axes can easily take advantage of Resilience, which prevents you from getting staggered easily, allowing you to go toe-to-toe with enemies. It also has a good skill tree with powerful Disciplines, and one node even grants you 3 Skyborn Might after the fourth light attack in a combo.
