1. Descend the Stairs in Reverent Temple
At the beginning of the game, follow the mountain path until you reach Reverent Temple. Go down the stairs, and a cutscene will play where he explains your condition, the Feathering, and gives you the Silk Manuscript.
2. Talk to Him in Reverent Temple After Blightweaver
Return to Reverent Temple after defeating Blightweaver Great Centipede in Bandit Cave, and he'll tell you that he's heading through Doomwillow Beach. You'll receive five Steamed Bunny Bun as a reward.

3. Talk to Xuanyangzi Outside Tang Palace
After passing through Palace Pass, you'll find Xuanyangzi by the pond across the bridge. Talk to him, and he'll ask you to investigate Tang Palace on his behalf. He'll give you three pieces of Fixed Origin Pills after the conversation.
4. Talk to Xuanyangzi After Honglan Fight
After your battle with Honglan, you'll return to Reverent Temple when the cutscene ends. Talk to him to give you a piece of Growing Red Mercury, and he'll hint that you should investigate Snowfall Palace next, as it's rich in red mercury ore, which he uses to craft elixirs that extend his noble masters' lives.

Xuanyangzi is located on the second floor of Reverent Temple, next to the stairway going to the third floor.

Outside Tang Palace
Xuanyangzi is found by the lake after you pass through Palace Pass, which is beyond the area where you fought Soulwood. He'll move to this spot after you talk to him, one you've opened the underground path to Doomwillow Beach.
