Enemy weaknesses are rated from 1 to 3, with 3 being extremely effective. An X mark means the enemy is immune against the status effect.
Liu Cheng'en has higher mitigation against Blunt attacks, so using Slashes and Stabs are the way to go in order to maximize the damage to him.
Almost all of Liu Cheng'en's attacks cause strong Frostbite buildup. Equipping armor with high Frostbite resistance, along with using consumables to alleviate the status buildup will help significantly.
Liu Cheng'en wields a polearm for stab attacks, then switches to a sword for slashes when his health drops to around 50%. Equipping armor with high mitigation against these damage types will help you survive longer.

| Triple Ground Slam |
Liu Cheng'en jumps high into the air and slams the ground at your location upon landing. He repeats this three times in succession. Dodge in any direction to avoid each slam. |
| Upper Cut and Triple Stab |
Liu Cheng'en performs an uppercut with his polearm, followed by a triple stab. Dodge backward to avoid the uppercute, then dodge to the sides to avoid the stabs. Aim to get behind him for a heavy attack. |
| Side Slash |
Liu Cheng'en places his polearm above his shoulder and slashes downward to his other side. Dodge to any direction, but stay alert for a follow up. |
| Spinning Ground Slam |
Liu Cheng'en builds momentum for his ground slam by spinning twice. The spinning motion deals damage too. Keep distance from the spins, then dodge to the side to avoid the ground slam. |
| Glaive Dance |
Liu Cheng'en performs a combo of slashes and stabs. Dodge the attacks backward to safely create distance from him. |

| Weapon Switch |
Once his HP drops to around 50%, he'll coat himself in a snowstorm and switch from his polearm to a sword, changing his attack patterns. Be ready to dodge, since he'll immediately follow up with an attack. |
| Sword Spin |
Liu Cheng'en performs a single spin attack, followed by two quick spins. This is best clashed or deflected, as the second part of the attack can't be dodged effectively. Alternatively, you can dodge the first spin, then trigger Alacrity from spells if you don't have any Clash or Deflect skills. |
| Double Side Slash |
Liu Cheng'en performs two consecutive side slashes. Dodge to your right to avoid them, or dodge forward and try to land a heavy attack to open him up for an Obliterate Strike. |
| Sword Dance |
Liu Cheng'en executes a slashing sword combo. This is also best clashed or deflected, since the attack is performed in quick succession. |
| Blizzard |
Liu Cheng'en summons a blizzard with himself at its center, dealing continuous damage within the radius, and finishes it with a sword slash. Stay clear of the blizzard to avoid taking damage. |
| Ground Stomp |
Liu Cheng'en raises his foot and stomps on the ground, dealing damage to anyone nearby. Dodge to any direction, but attempt a dodge forward to get behind him and deal damage. |
| Icicle Toss |
Liu Cheng'en throws four frostbite-infused projectiles twice in quick succession. Dodge to the right on the first throw, then to immediately to the right on the second to avoid the projectiles. |
| Throat Slit |
Liu Cheng'en performs a spinning kick that locks you in an animation where he slits your throat. Dodge forward to avoid the attack and get behind him to land a heavy attack. |
Proceed forward past the Cloudspire Outskirts shrine, and follow the path upward. Once you reach the top, continue moving forward, following the misty fog until you reach the bridge of Snowpeak Pass. The boss area is just up ahead.

He seems to be vulnerable to longsword charged heavy attack (not sure of other weapons). I was able to quickly beat him once I realized I could do a charge heavy after his attacke sequence which would stagger him almost everytime.
