The Steampowered Spear and its Steam Chain skill is the best weapon and skill to use for this build due to its innate flame damage. The Discipline Aerial Bulwark allows the build to gain Skyborn Might, allowing the build to chain spells and Skyborn Might generation.

Using the Disciplinary Force benedictions outscale the damage from the damage bonus received when enemies burn. This also gives a flat damage increase with no duration required.

It’s best to slot in Burning Might and Burning Ignition in the early game to further increase the damage you deal when you burn enemies. Skyborn Magic is used to improve your Burning Flames.

Take the Aerial Bulwark Variant and the nearby Spear Discipline skills to obtain the bonus from the Tri-Disciplinary Force. Afterwards, take Fiery Embers to increase the burn buildup for Burning Flames.

Complete the rest of the Spear tree to collect more Discipline skills and take Skyborn Call III with the magic and Manna Flask nodes. This should grant you more survivability and stamina.

You'll want to progress the Shortsword impetus tree for more Discipline skills to complete the Disciplinary Force benediction set. You'll also want to take as many Agility and Magic nodes to increase the damage of your spear and Burning Flames.

The armor used for the build is focused on Feathering damage resistance, as most enemies in the endgame deal Feathering damage. As the armor does not affect the build's damage, you can swap this set to match your resistance needs.

The Monkey Pendant allows you to increase the damage of your Fire Pots, synergizing with the build's burn buildup, while the Eagle Pendant increases the damage of your spear stabs. The Twin Infant Pendant allows for stamina recovery, giving you extra maneuverability.

Temperance and Acupoints

Bone Needle - FlameBone Needle - Flame Used via tempering to boost your weapon's Fire Attack Power and enable it to cause Burn buildup.
Shadow Stone Needle - StrengthShadow Stone Needle - Strength Taps into your acupoint to slightly increase the Strength Control of the weapon you're wielding.
Everlight Stone Needle - ContinuityEverlight Stone Needle - Continuity Stimulate your meridians to increase the duration of Tempering.
Shadow Stone Needle - AgilityShadow Stone Needle - Agility Taps into your acupoint to slightly increase the Agility Control of the weapon you're wielding.

You only need the Flame bone needle to imbue your spear with fire using Temperance. This allows you to follow up Burning Flames or Steam Chain with more fire attacks, granting more burn buildup against enemies.

The Continuity Needle allows you to prolong the flame imbue on your weapon. While the Agility and Strength Stone needles grant a flat damage increase from the weapon scaling.

Echo of DhutangaEcho of Dhutanga Paired with Steam Chain to force enemies on their backs and trigger Obliterate.

If you do not have Burning Flames yet, Infernal Flames is a good early alternative for the build too.

We highly recommend using Fire Pots and Niter Fire Pots along with this setup to build the Burn gauge faster, even when you're out of Skyborn Might.

Other items in your loadout should be your Manna Flasks for healing, and your Temperance to activate and imbue your weapon with Fire.

Playstyle Tips

Encounter Rotation

  1. Set up Aerial Bulwark to perfect dodge the initial attack and gain 4 Skyborn Might.
  2. Cast Burning Flames
  3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 until Burn applies to the enemy.
  4. Use Temperance to imbue your Spear with fire.
  5. Use Steam Chain to apply more burn and Fire Attack Damage.
  6. Repeat all steps
