Recommended to Use Blunt Attacks
Ai Nengqi has low mitigation to Blunt attacks, meaning he'll take more damage from them compared to Slashes and Stabs.
How to Beat General of the North Ai Nengqi
- Summon Nian Suichang to Split Aggro
- Use Lightning Spells or Lightning Tempering
- Get Resistances for Paralysis, Frostbite, and Burn
- Remain Distant to Trigger More Arrow Shots for Skyborn Might
- Chese Method to Gain Cover
Summon Nian Suichang to Split Aggro
Summon Nian Luichang once you enter the boss area. Be careful, as there's an animation when using the Bone Whistle that prevents you from dodging attacks until it finishes. Ai Nengqi will change targets, giving you enough time to get some damage in before it returns aggro to you.

Ai Nengqi is an armored enemy, meaning that lightning attacks are effective for dealing damage to him. The Thunderstorm spell can be obtained by defeating the elite enemy near the Rebel Camp shrine. You'll also receive the Rebel Camp Key from the enemy to access Ai Nengqi's arena. Alternatively, you can unlock the Bone Needle - Lightning skill node in the Impetus Repository.
Get Resistances for Paralysis, Frostbite, and Burn
Ai Nengqi can inflict Frostbite and Paralysis status with his attacks, and later adds Burning from his flaming sword once his health drops to around half. Equipping armor with high resistance to these ailments will help reduce buildup and prevent being inflicted quicker.
Remain Distant to Trigger More Arrow Shots for Skyborn Might
Once Ai Nengqi leaps into the air, perform a perfect dodge against the first arrow to gain Skyborn Might. Then, stay at a distance to trigger him to fire additional arrows at you.
Cheese Method to Gain Cover
If you fight Ai Nengqi near the sides of the arena, there is a good chance that he will jump to the corner and shoot his arrows from there. If he does, the impassable terrain near the entrance will block the arrows going to you if you stand behind it. Use this time to heal, change items, or reapply Temperance to your weapon.
However, this may not always work, as Ai Nengqi might land in a different spot and still hit you with his arrows.

| Ground Slam |
Ai Nengqi leaps into the air and slams the ground upon landing. Try to dodge forward to reach his back and do a heavy charge to open him up for Obliterate Strikes. |
| Ground Stomp |
Ai Nengqi raises his foot and stomps on the ground, damaging anything nearby. Simply dodge to the side to avoid the attack, and get ready to do another dodge, since it's most likely there will be a follow up to the attack. |
| Ice Punch |
Ai Nengqi uses his right arm to deliver a frost-infused punch. Dodge to your left to avoid the attack. |
| Dual Slash |
Ai Nengqi executes two side-to-side slashes, from left to right and then right to left. Dodge backward to avoid the attack. |
| Airborne Slash |
Ai Nengqi slashes his sword upward from the ground, lauching you into the air if it hits. Dodge to the sides to avoid the attack.. |
| Crouching Slash |
Ai Nengqi performs a spinning slash putting him in a crouching position at the end of the attack. Try to dodge forward, since it leaves him stationary for a bit. |

Ai Nengqi executes an upward slash from his side. Dodge to any direction to avoid the attack. |
| Sword Slams |
Ai Nengqi slams his sword to the ground four times. Dodge to your left while sticking close to him, then do a heavy attack after his move ends. |
| Overhead Slash |
Ai Nengqi readies his sword above his head and strikes downward, delivering a powerful attack. Dodge to the side and try to do a heavy attack on his back. |
| Ice Spikes |
Ai Nengqi grips the ground and makes a throwing motion toward you, spawing ice spikes in the area around you. Dodge to the side to regain visibility and track Ai Nengqi's next move. |
| Lightning Shot |
Ai Nengqi fires an arrow to your location. The arrows explode after a short time upon reaching the ground. Dodge to the sides to avoid them, or forward to reduce the distance between you and Ai Nengqi. |
| Lightning Volley |
Ai Nengqi readies five arrows, and fires them at you. All arrows are infused with Lightning and increase paralysis buildup. Dodge forward to avoid them. |
| Lightning Strike |
Ai Nengqi executes an upward sword slash while jumping into the air, then fires a single arrow at your location before landing. Dodge to the sides to remain distant and trigger additional lightning arrows to stack Skyborn Might. |

At 50% HP, he stomps on the ground, releasing a wave of frosty mist. You can dodge forward and get behind him to land attacks. Though, watch out for his move where he brandishes his sword with flames. |
| Imbued Flames |
Ai Nengqi performs spinning slashes while applying flames to his sword. The last part of his attack releases bouncing fireballs. Dodge backward to maintain distance during this move, so you're to evade his next attack. |
| Spinning Flame Arc |
Ai Nengqi leaps and spins with his sword before striking as he lands. Dodge to the sides to avoid the attack, or try dodging forward as he lands to execute a heavy attack on his back. |
| Billow Volley |
He shoots arrows into the air that fall in a circular pattern around you, where the circle gets larger per instance. Dodge forward or backward during each wave, since dodging sidewards will cause you to be hit by the adjacent lightning strike. |
