ironically the boss your posting this complaint under is vulnerable to poise damage. I used a one handed sword with the discipline skill that does extra poise damage with the poise damage temperance and was able to remove 50% of his health just by letting him stun himself on the pillars then poise break combo him, he did his little underground attack combo, surfaced hit another stun pillar and second poise combo killed him.
Hi! Blightweaver is tagged as an optional boss, since you can skip it by going through the fiery path near Shu Sanctum to reach Doomwillow Beach. You can read more by checking our Shu Sanctum 100% Completion Guide page! I hope this helps!
Why is this listed as an optional boss when it obviously isn't? You have to beat it to progress to the next area.

If you use the misty breath discipline from the vermillion war club after it gets stunned from the pillars you can destroy its health bar
