Villager Trading

MC - Trading with Villagers.png
While Villagers do not have any item drops when slain, they can be used as a renewable source of different materials through the game's trading mechanic. By placing a Workstation in the vicinity of an unemployed villager, they can have a job and will have a variety of items for trade.

How to Breed Villagers

Give a Minimum of 2 Villagers Access to Enough Food

MC - Villagers Breeding.png
Villagers first need to be willing to breed before they can produce baby Villagers. This is usually done by making sure they have access to their basic needs first. This includes making sure they have access to food and have beds nearby. Once they have enough food in their inventory (whether given or collected), they will then be willing to reproduce.

Villagers Will Breed Up to the Number of Beds Available in Their Village

The number of beds in a village is an indicator of the number that villagers will attempt to populate to. Adding more beds within the vicinity of the village will encourage villagers to reproduce more.

Alternatively, moving newly bred villagers away from their village will allow for the village population to never max out. This is a core mechanic behind Villager Breeders that are often made in tandem with Villager Trading Halls or Iron Farms.

Villager Behavior

Villagers Have Routines

Villagers have their own routines within their villages that let them appear like they live their own lives. Throughout the day, they will perform different actions including farming, socializing with other villagers, exploring, and sleeping.

Will Work, Play, or Wander in the Morning

During daylight hours, employed villagers will also spend time near their work stations for a period of time. Farmer Villagers may even spend time tending to crops in fields. Baby Villagers on the other hand will run around and play.

Will Stay Away From Danger, Sleep in the Evening

During the evening hours, however, Villagers will likely stay indoors as they prepare for bedtime. Villagers will also naturally run away from dangerous mobs that may appear in the dark. They are particularly wary of Zombies and will actively try to stay away from them.
