Mineral and Ore Blocks only spawn on certain levels. Dig down or even up to certain y-levels to find the Mineral Blocks you want. Although you can find them with 100% assurance on their y-levels, you will still need to scour that level to find them, especially the rare ones like the Diamond.
You can use a pickaxe with the Silk Touch enchantment to preserve their form after mining them.
1.18 Ore Distribution and Comparison
Mineral | How to Get |
---|---|
Amethyst | Can be found on Y-Level 30 and below. They are found easily near ocean biomes. |
Copper | You can find Copper mostly on mountains or the first levels underground. |
Mineral Blocks can also be turned into different blocks through crafting. Smelting the their raw forms into ingots using furnaces gives you more options when crafting. You can turn them into a solid block or cut them into different shapes using the Crafting Table or Stone Cutter. This is especially true to the Copper variants.
