How to Get Curse of Vanishing

You Cannot use Enchanting Tables

Curse of Vanishing is a Treasure Enchantment, meaning it cannot be crafted using Enchanting Tables. You'll have to use different methods to obtain it.

Obtain by Fishing

Head out into open water and use your Fishing Rod to catch items with Curse of Vanishing enchantments. The Luck of the Sea enchant will increase your chances of catching enchanted items.

Loot from Chests

You'll find Curse of Vanishing in Treasure Chests in structures and dungeons around the world. Make sure you're properly equipped with armor and weapons since these areas will be infested with Mobs.

Trade with Villagers

You'll be able to trade items with villagers to obtain Curse of Vanishing. Librarians will be your best bet since you can trade Emeralds for enchantments even at Novice levels.

Cannot Remove the Curse of Vanishing

The Curse of Vanishing causes a cursed item to permanently disappear when you die. Unfortunately, there is no way to remove this curse without cheats, so if you're unlucky enough to get one, play extremely cautious.

Use Cheats to Circumvent the Curse

You can get around the Curse of Vanishing by using cheats. If you have them enabled, you can type in /gamerule KeepInventory true to prevent losing any items.

Use a Shulker Box to Avoid Losing the Cursed Item

While you can't remove the curse, you can still keep the item if you store it in a Shulker Box.

If you're afraid of dying on a journey, place it in the Shulker Box then destroy the box. You can carry the box with you while the item's stored inside. Upon death, the item will remain in the box.
