How to Get the Mending Enchantment

How to Get Mending

You Cannot use Enchanting Tables

Mending is a Treasure Enchantment, meaning it cannot be crafted using Enchanting Tables. You'll have to use different methods to obtain it.

Obtain by Fishing

Head out into open water and use your Fishing Rod to catch items with Mending enchantments. The Luck of the Sea enchant will increase your chances of catching enchanted items.

Loot from Chests

You'll find Mending in Treasure Chests in structures and dungeons around the world. Make sure you're properly equipped with armor and weapons since these areas will be infested with Mobs.

Trade with Villagers

You'll be able to trade items with villagers to obtain Mending. Librarians will be your best bet since you can trade Emeralds for enchantments even at Novice levels.

You'll have to level up other Villager types to obtain their enchanted stock.

How to Use Mending

Restore your Item's Durability

Pickaxe with Mending I gains 4 Durability

The Mending enchantment lets you gather materials without worrying about your item breaking. With every 1 XP gained, your enchanted item is restored 2 Durability.

This is particularly useful for the Pickaxe, since gaining XP with this item is easier compared to other gear. You simply have to mine minerals with your Pickaxe to continuously restore its durability. Make sure you prioritize Mending when enchanting this item.

Combine with Unbreaking

Make sure to combine Mending with the Unbreaking enchantment since this makes your items near-indestructible. Your item's durability is immensely strengthened with this combination.
