How to Breed Axolotls

Feed Axolotls a Bucket of Tropical Fish

Feeding two Axolotls a bucket of Tropical Fish will cause them to go into Love Mode and breed. Afterwards, the pregnant Axolotl will spawn a baby Axolotl, which can grow faster into an adult when fed more Tropical Fish.

Axolotls have a total of five color variants. The first three variants can be found underwater in Lush Caves or through breeding, while the Blue and Light Blue variants are exclusive to breeding.

Axolotl Behavior

Passive to Players, Hostile to Mobs

Axolotl are passive mobs to players, but are hostile towards other aquatic mobs. Axolotls will attack nearby mobs and will continue to swim aimlessly after eliminating them.

Follows Players Holding a Bucket of Tropical Fish

While holding a bucket of Tropical Fish, Axolotls will follow players around wherever they go so long as they can reach the player.
