Starting June 7th, the two versions for Minecraft on PC will now be merged into Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition for PC. Read on to learn what this means for players of one or the other, and how owners of one version can get the other version for free.

Starting June 7th 2022, Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition for PC will now be available as the standard and only offering of Minecraft on PC. This merges together the two versions of Minecraft into a single purchase removing the confusion that players may have about determining which version to get.
By packaging both versions together, players will be able to choose which version to play straight from the launcher. Players can continue to enjoy the unique offerings of each version, with the bonus of being able to switch to the other.
Bedrock vs Java: Edition Differences
All players that already own either Java Edition or Bedrock Edition will receive the edition they do not currently own for free. As stated in their official announcement, the distribution will take between 2-3 days before players will be able to claim their copy.
The release of Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition for PC coincides with the release of Minecraft 1.19: The Wild Update. Familiarize yourself with the new features the update has to offer!
