How to Tame Foxes

Breed Foxes to Get A Tamed Fox

After feeding breeding two Foxes, the resulting kit will be a tamed fox, which you can feed Sweet Berries or Glow Berries to speed its growth into an adult. While the kit is a tamed Fox and will follow you, the adults will continue to move act skittish (although they are more trusting of the player compared to Cats and Dogs).

Note that even though kits are tamed foxes, they will often follow their untamed adult parents. You can either kill the adult foxes, or use a lead to control where the kit goes.

How To Breed Foxes

Give Sweet Berries or Glow Berries to Two Nearby Foxes

Feed two nearby Foxes Sweet Berries or Glow Berries to get them to breed. The resulting kit will be a tamed Fox. Note that feeding adult Foxes Sweet Berries and Glow Berries does not tame them.

Foxes naturally spawn in several cold and snowy Biomes of the overworld. If a fox spawns in a snowy biome, they appear white as opposed to their usual red-orange coat.

Foxes Pick Up Items

Foxes will often pick up items if they are near one. Although Foxes can pick up several types of items in the game, they always favor food items. After picking up an edible item, foxes will eat it after a few seconds.

Foxes Sleep

Foxes are one of the few mobs that sleep, and will do so when covered by a roof (Sky Light of 14 or below). Foxes are also able to pick up items even while sleeping.
