Minecraft How to Join and Create Realms

Play with friends around the world by creating or joining Realms in Minecraft. Read on to learn about how to join another player's realm, create your own realm, and information on the subscription services available!

How to Join Realms

Java Edition

Join from the Minecraft Realms menu

Select Minecraft Realms at the title screen to see the Realms available to you. You will have to receive an invitation (look for a flashing mail icon) in order ot access another player's realm. Your version of Minecraft will also need to be up to date.

Bedrock Edition

Sign in you account to play on realms

A Microsoft/Xbox account is necessary for any online play. Even if you are not playing on a PC or an Xbox console, you can still create an account. Be sure to do so before attempting to join a realm.

Search for Available Realms

Join realms that are availble

After selecting the Play Option search for the Join Realm option under the Friends tab. You are given the option to join realms of every friend on your account, regardless of their device.

Enter Invite Code

Enter a friend

If you have a n invite code that you received from another player, choose the Find Cross-Platform Friends option and enter the Invite Code when given the prompt.

How to Create Realms

A Subscription is Required to Create a Realm

A paid subscription to either Minecraft Realms or Minecraft Realms Plus is required to create a realm. It is a monthly subscription and the price depends on the size of your realm.

Java Edition

Join from the Minecraft Realms menu

Opening the Minecraft Realms menu to create a new Realm. You can start playing in your Realm as soon as you decide on the initial settings.

Bedrock Edition

Create a realm form the worlds menu

Select the Create your first realm option under the Worlds tab to get started. You will need a Microsoft/xbox account in order to create one.

Choose a Name and Size

Decide on a name and size in order to finalize the creation of a realm. The size of the realm determine how many players can enter it.

10 Users 10 Players plus the host

Send an Invite Link to Your Friends

Send a code to Invite friends

Once you have created your realm, you can send an invite link to players that you would like to join. If your realm becomes crowded, or you would like to invite new players, you can always refresh your invite link. Be careful though since the old link can no longer be used to enter your realm.

They are currently two subscription services available for purchase as of now. Each feature offers various options, so make sure to choose the one that is best for you. Note that Minecraft Realm Plus is only available for Bedrock versions of Minecraft.
