How to Get Flame

Obtain using Enchanting Tables

The most common way to obtain Flame is through an Enchanting Table. You'll need XP and Lapis Lazuli to enchant an item.

Use Bookshelves to increase enchantment levels

Placing bookshelves around the Enchanting Table will increase the possible enchantment levels of an item. There must be one block of air between a bookshelf and the Enchanting Table for this to work.

Obtain by Fishing

Fishing - Minecraft
Head out into open water and use your Fishing Rod to catch items with Flame enchantments. The Luck of the Sea enchant will increase your chances of catching enchanted items.

Loot from Chests

You'll find Flame in Treasure Chests in structures and dungeons around the world. Make sure you're properly equipped with armor and weapons since these areas will be infested with Mobs.

Trade with Villagers

You'll be able to trade items with villagers to obtain Flame. Librarians will be your best bet since you can trade Emeralds for enchantments even at Novice levels.

You'll have to level up other Villager types to obtain their enchanted stock.

How to Use Flame

Set Enemies on Fire

Flame - Minecraft Enchantment
Deal an extra source of damage to enemies by adding a Flame enchantment to your bow. This turns normal arrows into flame arrows, setting enemies on fire and dealing 5 fire damage over 5 seconds. This is equivalent to 2.5 hearts. This enchantment will not work in rain or in water. The added damage from this makes combat encounters much easier.

Make sure you deal direct non-fire damage to an enemy set on fire or else they won't drop any XP.
