When is 1.19 Coming Out?

Minecraft 1.19 is Out Now!

The long-awaited Minecraft 1.19: The Wild Update is now officially released worldwide for all editions and platforms! The update dropped on June 7, 2022 at exactly 8 AM PDT.

To start up the new update, select to play the latest version of the game on your Minecraft Launcher. If you are playing on console or through the Xbox Store, you will need to follow the update process of your respective system.

Java and Bedrock Merge on PC

Along with the Minecraft 1.19 update comes the Java and Bedrock Merge on the PC version of the game. Purchasing Minecraft on PC will now get you both editions of the game. Those who have already purchased one of the editions will also receive the other edition for free if you play on PC.

New Biomes in Minecraft 1.19

Deep Dark Biomes

A new biome called the Deep Dark will be added in the upcoming update. This cave biome is characterized by its low visibility, which creates both a mysterious and frightening atmosphere. You can find Deep Dark Biomes deep underground in caves and ravines.

Several new types of Sculk blocks can be found all over the Deep Dark Biome, some of which have unique properties.

Mangrove Swamp Biomes

Mangrove Swamps are a new type of swamp that will also be added to Minecraft in the Wild Upate. They contain an abundance of Mud and Mangrove Trees, which you can use to craft several new blocks in the update.

Ancient Citites

Can be Found in Deep Dark Biomes

Ancient cities are new structures found in the Deep Dark Biome. These areas give the players something interesting to look forward to as they explore the new biome. They also contain unique loot that are found nowhere else in the Minecraft world.

New Mobs

Wardens

The Warden is a new powerful enemy that only appears in Deep Dark Biomes. Activating Sculk Shriekers will alert it to your presence and it can appear from anywhere, even under the ground. Wardens are blind, so they rely primarily on smell and sound to find other mobs.

Allays

Originally scheduled to be released in an earlier update, Allays are a unique mob, since they can carry items and bring them to the player. Giving an Allay item will cause it to search for and bring back more of the same item.

Frogs

Frogs can be found in the wild or raised from Tadpoles. They usually spawn in swamp biomes, like the new Mangrove Swamp. Frogs come in three different color variations, which spawn from tadpoles that grow up in different biomes.

Frogs also attack and consume Magma Cubes and Slime, and can produce new blocks called Froglite.

Tadpoles

Tadpoles are a new animal introduced in the update. They come out of Frogspawns, which are made after breeding two frogs using Slime. By growing Tadpoles in different biomes, you can make Frogs of different color variants.

Fireflies

Fireflies are one of the new mobs that were also supposedly coming with the update. However, Mojang has since announced that Fireflies will unfortunately not be a part of The Wild Update.

Mangrove Wood

Mangroves are a new type of tree that are naturally found in Mangrove Swamps. Like all trees, they can be grown, harvested for their wood, and used to craft several wooden blocks and items. Mangrove Trees also have several other unique properties that other trees in the game do not have.

Mud and Mud Bricks

Inspired by various housing structures throughout the world, Mud Bricks have been introduced as a new building block in Minecraft. They are crafted from Packed Mud blocks and function similarly to many stone blocks in the game, since they can also be turned into bricks, walls, slabs, and stairs.

By pouring water on a dirt block, you can create as much mud as you need. A very useful addition when deciding to make anything that requires mud.

Sculk Catalysts

In previous updates, only the Sculk Sensor was added to the game and was only available in the Creative Inventory. The Wild Update is now adding it and the rest of the new Sculk blocks into the Deep Dark Biome, including the Sculk Catalysts.

By defeating an enemy near a Sculk Catalyst, you can spread Sculk and harvest more of this unique block.

Defeat a zombie or other enemies while they are near a Sculk Catalyst.

The amount of Sculk created is based on the strength of the enemy.

Sculk Shriekers

Sculk Shriekers are another new Sculk Block can also be found in the Deep Dark Biome. It is recommended to sneak around them as they let out distinct shriek when approached and temporarily inflict blindness. When activated enough times, this block will summon in a Warden.

Froglight

Froglight is a new light source in Minecraft that is dropped when a Frog attacks and consumes a small Magma Cube. They have similar properties to other light blocks like Sea Lanterns and Glowstone.

New Items

Boats with Chests

The new update also added a new transportation item that also doubles as a container. The boat with chest functions like a regular boat. However, it also gives you the ability to store items inside of it. It has the same number of item slots as a regular single chest.

Recovery Compass

The Recovery Compass is one of the most useful items added to the game. However, it may be difficult to obtain since its materials can only be found in Ancient Cities. The Recovery Compass points players to their last death location.

You'll need 8 Echo Shards to craft this item.

Music Disc 5

A new Music Disc is also being added to the game, which contains a track by Samuel Åberg, one of the sound designers at Mojang. The new track is eerie and frightening, but also strikes a sense of adventure in its listeners. We highly recommend listening to the track in a Snapshot or Experimental world.

Goat Horns

Goat Horns are a new drop added to Goats, which were previously added in 1.17. You can blow into a Goat Horn to creat a loud noise. The tune of the Goat Horn changes depending on the type you use.

Swift Sneak Enchantment

Swift Sneak is a brand new enchantment introduced in Minecraft 1.19 which allows you to travel faster while crouching. It only speeds you up to a pace slightly slower than walking, but when traversing through Deep Dark biomes, it will surely come in handy!

Other New Features

Experimental Spectator Mode on Bedrock

Minecraft 1.19 now also adds a new Spectator Mode in Bedrock Editions, but only when enabling Experimental Features. Spectator Mode has been a staple game mode in Java Edition, but is only now making its way to Bedrock.

New Achievements and Advancements

A few new achievements and advancements were also added to the game. Many of which relate to the new 1.19 blocks, mobs, and other features.

New Commands and Cheats

The new "/place" command was added to Minecraft Java Edition, which allows players to generate different features, structures, and templates. This also replaces the old "/placefeature" command.

The "/locate" command has now also received some updates. Now you can add in biome, structure, or poi as a parameter to this command. Previously "/locatebiome" was a separate command.

Command	Description
/locate	Displays the coordinates for the closest strucutre of a given type. In Java Edition, you can also locate specific biomes and points of interest.
/place	Places a feature, structure, template, or jigsaw (part of a structure) at a given location.

List of All Commands and Cheats

Minecart Variants No Longer Split into Two Items

Different Minecard Variants, such as Chest Minecarts, Hopper Minecarts, Furnace Minecarts, and TNT Minecarts no longer split into their constituent parts when broken. They will now drop as only a single item.

Some Nether Mobs Spawn in Higher Light Levels

In Java Edition, Mobs such as Endermen, Skeletons, Wither Skeletons and Piglins now spawn at a wider range of light levels in the Nether (from 0 to 11). This means that more mobs will now be able to spawn inside Nether Portals.

New Music

In additon to Samuel Åberg's Music Disc 5, there are four other new music tracks added to the Minecraft library. These are Ancestry, Aerie, Firebugs, and Labyrinthine. All composed by Lena Raine who also made other classics like Pigstep and otherside.

You will occassionally hear these tracks in certain biomes and areas around the world.
