The Far Lands were a result of a terrain generation glitch in older versions of Minecraft. Read on to learn how to reach the Far Lands and the explanation behind
this iconic phenomenon.
When the infinite world of Minecraft was introduced way back during its beta, a bug was discovered that occured 12.5 million blocks away from any world's spawn point. A huge wall of stone, dirt, and grass could be found extending its way up to the sky with anthill-like corridors in between.
This fascinating world generation glitch has since been referred to as the Far Lands and served as a visual representation of the unofficial limit of a supposedly limitless world.
Far Lands have long since been patched out of Minecraft as world generation has developed over the years. There are ways of patching the Far Lands back in. But in its Vanilla state, there doesn't seem to be a known phenomenon similar to what the Far Lands represented.
By applying a mod to the game that brings Far Lands back, there are two approaches to reaching the Far Lands, by walking to it or teleporting to it. It is important to note that it isn't recommended to test this on your main world in case any worse glitches occur.
One way would be to walk approximately 12.5 million blocks away from spawn and eventually you would end up at the Far Lands. However this is a lot more tedious than it sounds. There are only a handful of players who have documented their journey to reach the Badlands and it often ended up being journeys that last many years.
Content creator KurtJMac is known for his YouTube show Far Lands or Bust where he has been documenting his trip to the Far Lands for over 10 years, all while raising money for charity.

A far more straightforward approach would be to simply teleport the distance needed to reach the Far Lands. This can be enough for players who want to satisfy their curiosity to see the Far Lands up close.
