For your initial party setup, we recommend that your party consist of the Hero, Warrior, Mage, and Priest job classes.
Both the Warrior and Mage can act as offensive specialists that can dish out the most damage against enemy monsters, while the Priest can provide healing and support for the rest of the party during battle.
From there, we advise that the job classes of your companions be changed to increase their function in combat and gain access to abilities that are inherent to other jobs.

Rationale: ・Improve critical hit rate ・Critical hit rate rises when leveling |
The Warrior is ideally your main damage dealer and tank, unleashing as much damage as they can as well as toughing it out against powerful enemy attacks.
From there, it is recommended that you change your job class to Merchant so as not to change the stat values you've accumulated so far in the game.
As you progress, you will then need to change your job to Thief as it will enhance your overall agility in the game. They also have valuable exploration skills that can be handy when you journey through dungeons on the map.
Martial Artist will be the final job change for the Warrior, as the job class will enhance your critical hit rate in battle.

The Mage will be your offensive specialist when it comes to spells. It is recommended that you increase their stamina so they can last longer in battle.
From there, it is recommended that you change your job to Sage and acquire access to spells from both the Mage and Priest. Do note that it will take a long time for the Sage to change jobs, so you will remain a Sage for the time being.
Once you've finally reached the point where you can change jobs, choose the Monster Wrangler for its Beast Mode ability that can enable you to have 2 actions per turn.
The Thief will be the final job change for your Mage, as it can enhance your speed greatly which can help you cast spells before enemies and unleash multi-target spells to end the battle instantly.

Sage | Best Personalities: ・Genius ・Wit |
Rationale: ・Access to Mage and Priest Spells |
The Priest will be your main healer and support, so make sure to enhance its wisdom, resilience, and stamina as it can help the Priest last longer in battle.
It is recommended that the Thief be the next job taken by your Priest, as speed is necessary to cast your recovery and support spells for your damaged and felled allies in combat.
Monster Wranglers will be the next job change to gain access to its Beast Mode ability that enables you to act twice during a single turn in battle.
Gadabouts do not have the best stat values in the game, which is why it is recommended to change to another job once you've gained access to its Magic Enhancement ability that can strengthen your spells.
The Sage will be the final job change for the Priest, which will expand its utility as more than a support system and provide access to offensive spells that can take out enemies quickly.
Starting Party | |||
---|---|---|---|
Hero | Warrior | Mage | Priest |
Post Job-Change Party | |||
Hero | Warrior | Warrior | Sage |
This is the standard party composition that has a good balance of damage, defense, and healing. This is ideal for players who want to clear everything in the game.
Later once you can change a character's vocation, you'll want to change your Mage into a Warrior for tankiness, and your Priest into a Sage for damaging spells. Make sure you only do this after the Mage has learned all their spells so that it carries over when they become a Warrior.
Starting Party | |||
---|---|---|---|
Hero | Warrior | Thief | Mage |
Post Job-Change Party | |||
Hero | Warrior | Sage | Warrior |
This team composition is commonly used in speedrunning and is ideal for players who want to complete the game as fast as possible. You'll be reliant on Items and the Hero for healing until you can change your Thief into a Sage.
Once you reach the Dharma Temple, you'll want to wait for your Mage to be level 21 before changing vocations so that they can learn Oomph before becoming a Warrior.
Starting Party | |||
---|---|---|---|
Hero | Martial Artist | Mage | Gadabout |
Post Job-Change Party | |||
Hero | Sage | Sage | Sage |
Final Party | |||
Hero | Martial Artist | Martial Artist | Thief |
This is the strongest possible team that you can make, but it has a very weak early game since you're relatively squishy, reliant on healing from the Hero or Items, and you're using a Gadabout.
Once you can change vocations, you become extremely strong since you can run 3 Sages alongside the Hero. However, you'll need to get 2 Zen Scrolls for your Martial Artist and Mage, which can be found in the Garuna Tower and Rimuldar.
After your Sages have learned all the spells that they can learn, you'll want to change them into 2 Martial Artists and a Thief for their defenses and utility respectively. Alternatively, you can use Warriors instead of Martial Artists if you have enough armor pieces to equip them with.
