How to Beat Dying Fire

Cast Magic Barrier to Lower Spell Damage

Cast Magic Barrier
Since the Dying Fires like to cast Swoosh, it's recommended to have Magic Barrier active at all times. This will reduce the damage dealt by the spells, reducing the amount of healing you'll need to do for your entire party.

Equip Spell Resistant Gear

Equipment Where to Buy Price
Magic Shield Lanson 4,300 G
Magical Robes Lanson 5,500 G
Magic Armour Theddon 6,900 G
Magical Skirt Theddon 1,400 G
Aerofoil Earrings Alltrades Abbey 3,300 G

As a note, you can also equip gear that reduces spell damage in combination with casting Magic Barrier. On top of that, you can use Aerofoil Earrings as well to heavily reduce the damage of the Dying Fires' Wind attacks.

Prioritize Killing the Phantasms

Prioritize Killing the Phantasms
It's recommended to kill off the Phantasms first since they can cast Spooky Aura to reduce a party member's spell resistance. Use Ice and Lightning attacks, like Crackle and Lightning Slash, to quickly take them down.

Defeat Dying Fires at the Same Time

Dying Fires Summons More Dying Fires
The biggest pain point of this fight is that the Dying Fires like to summon more of themselves when they get close to dying. To counter this, try to kill them all at the same time so that you won't have to worry about them multiplying.

Thankfully, whenever a new one joins, it will be grouped up with the leftmost Dying Fire. This allows you to efficiently dispatch them with Spells and Abilities that target an entire group.

Bring Dieamends to Counter Whack

Dieamend Effect
Another scary thing to worry about are the Dying Fires casting Whack and instantly killing a party member. Because of this, it's recommended to have at least one Dieamend in each character's bag so that it can absorb the instakill spell.

How to Get Dieamend and Effects

Have Ways to Counter Sleep

Cock-a-Doodle-Doo
The Dying Fires' regular attacks have a chance to put a target to sleep. Make sure to bring ways to prevent or cure sleep, like the Rousing Ring or the Cock-a-Doodle-Doo spell, in case multiple party members fall asleep.

Phantasms Can Also Paralyze

As a note, the Phantasms can also paralyze you with their attacks, but they'll be killed off quickly when compared to the Dying Fires. However, you should bring someone with Tingle just in case.

Draconian was annoying but doable. Magic barrier is a must. Have one person who knows zing and at the very least another person who knows zin. My mage spammed kacrack and hero spammed zapple, priest made sure magic barrier was up and then healed or revived when someone got whacked. Warrior just attacked. I was overleveled tbh, hero was lv28, warrior was lv27, priest was lv21 reclassed from a martial artist for some speed, mage was lv28. Every party member had magic shield.
