Missing the personality change you can get for the Hero at the start of the game: If you repeatedly tell your mom you refuse to talk to the king, she'll give up and let you walk away, but your personality will change to Mule. Note that this also prevents you from recruiting party members, and this also might prevent you from doing the required where you need a merchant. You can always visit the king later to get his blessing, but the personality change will stick unless you change it.
