How to Beat Zoma

Use the Sphere of Light on Turn 1

Sphere of Light Zoma
At the start of the fight, Zoma will have a Shroud of Shadows active, reducing the damage of your attacks and causing him to heal every turn. To dispel it, you'll need to use the Sphere of Light so make sure to bring it with you before the fight.

How to Get Sphere of Light and Effects

Prompted to Use the Sphere After 3 Turns

If you don't use the Sphere of Light, or you forgot to bring it with you, the game will prompt you to use it after three turns. In case you forget to bring it, you can just wait three turns to use it instead of resetting your game.

Wear Ice and Spell Resistant Gear

Zoma Freezing Blizzard
The majority of Zoma's attacks deal Ice damage so you'll want to make sure your party's wearing Ice-resistant equipment. He can also use Kaswoosh so you'll want some spell-resistant equipment as well.

List of Equipment

Cast Insulatle and Magic Barrier

Insulatle Zoma
On top of your equipment, you'll also want to cast Insulatle and Magic Barrier to further reduce the damage of his attacks. Make sure to do this so that you don't spend too much MP or turns having to heal your party.

Put Zoma to Sleep

Snooze Zoma
Another way to deal with this boss' attacks is by putting him to sleep. Ideally, you want to use the combo of Wild Side and Duplic Hat Snoozes for four casts, but you can still use doubled Sleepy Slaps or Snooze Sticks if ever.

Just be careful if you're casting Snooze since Zoma will eventually cast Bounce and reflect it back to the caster.

All Status Effects and How to Cure

Outspeed with an Aceleratle Buff

Acceleratle to Outspeed Zoma
If you find that your party is often moving after Zoma, then you'll want to use Aceleratle to increase your team's Speed. This is especially important for your sleep applier so that they can get it off before Zoma acts.

Acceleratle Effects and Level Learned

Equip Torcs of Truth on Physical Attackers

Zoma Dazzle
At some point Zoma may Dazzle your physical attackers, causing their attacks to miss. To prevent this, make sure that they have a Torc of Truth equipped so they can attack without any worry of it missing.

Attack with Wild Side Monster Pile-Ons

If you don't want to worry about Dazzle at all, you can always use the combo of Wild Side and Monster Pile-On since it will always hit. However, the attack isn't 100% accurate by default so there's always a chance that some hits will miss, regardless if the user is dazzled or not.

Dispel Bounce with Ripple of Disruption

Zoma Bounce
When Zoma drops low enough, he will use Bounce to reflect spells back to the party. If you have the Martial Artist's Ripple of Disruption, use it as soon as possible so you can dispel it and go back to casting spells on him.
