▸ Tough Cookie
▸ Paragon
Job Route

The Warrior class is characterized by high HP and high attack power, making them the ideal frontline in any battle. While they do have low agility, you can offset this by building them in a way that can increase their durability.

Warrior Job Class and Best Personality

Martial Artist Class

Martial Artist Class Recommended Personalities
▸ Bat Out of Hell
▸ Tough Cookie
Vamp (Female Only)
Job Route

The Martial Artist class are the best attackers you can have in your party. Their high speeds and high critical hit rate can easily mop the floor with enemies. However, they can be difficult to use in their early levels, so make sure to support them with Sages or Priests in your party!

Martial Artist Job Class and Best Personality

Mage Class

Mage Class Recommended Personalities
▸ Genius
Vamp (Female Only)
Job Route

The Mage class has a good balance between an offensive spellcaster to a defensive support buffer or healer. Their spell, Twin Hits, can buff an ally, increasing the party's overall dps.

Mage Job Class and Best Personality

Priest Class

Priest Class Recommended Personalities
▸ Tough Cookie
Vamp (Female Only)

Sage Sage

Priests are the ultimate support class that can keep your party alive while upping your damage and offensive capabilities. It's ideal to have at least one in your team.

Priest Job Class and Best Personality

Sage Class

Sage Class Recommended Personalities
▸ Genius
Vamp (Female Only)
Job Route

The Sage is a mix of both Mage and Priest classes. They can learn a lot of spells, making them the ultimate magic character in your party. The downside to this vocation is its slow growth, so it's best to change to this vocation towards the later stages of the game.

The Sage is not available at the start of the game. You can only turn into this class by either being a Gadabout class first or using the Words of Wisdom item.

Sage Job Class and Best Personality

Thief Class

Thief Class Recommended Personalities
▸ Tough Cookie
Vamp (Female Only)
Job Route

The Thief has the most agility stat growth amongst all vocations. With the proper class changes throughout the game, this can be the most useful and most versatile character you can have in your party.

Thief Job Class and Best Personality

Merchant Class

Merchant Class Recommended Personalities
▸ Tough Cookie
Vamp (Female Only)
Job Route

Merchants have a quick growth rate and a decent amount of attack power. They're especially useful for earning gold because of their special ability where you can get more gold after a battle. However, for the later stages of the game, it's best to just change this class into other, more powerful classes.

Merchant Job Class and Best Personality

Gadabout Class

Gadabout Class Recommended Personalities
▸ Tough Cookie
Vamp (Female Only)
Job Route

Gadabouts are unpredictable when it reaches higher levels. You can take the risk of having them improve your party's capabilities or destroy your chances of winning a battle! This class is the only class that can be changed into a Sage at level 20, so we recommend ditching the jesters hat for a magic staff when this happens!

Gadabout Job Class and Best Personality

Monster Wrangler Class

Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake (DQ3) - Monster Wrangler JP

As first teased in the Collector's Edition, Monster Wrangler is a new vocation exclusive to the remake. Not much has been revealed about this new vocation, other than that it can hit multiple enemies and heal the party with its skills and abilities!

How to Change Classes and Vocations

Change Jobs in Alltrades Abbey

Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake (DQ3) - Changing Vocations

To change a character's vocation, you must reach level 20 with them then go to Alltrades Abbey. This can be done to all vocations except for the Hero class. For the Sage class, you must come from the Gadabout class first or have the Words of Wisdom item.

All party members with new vocations revert to Level 1, retaining 50% of their attributes. Spells learned from the previous class are also kept, offering more versatility upon reclassing.
