Things to do in the Post-Game | |
---|---|
1 | Challenge the post-game dungeons, "???", the Citadel Tower, and the Temple of Trials. |
2 |
Fight the secret boss, Xenlon, and have them grant your wish upon beating them. ・Compete in a New Monster Arena ・Bring Ortega Back to Life ・Become History's Trendiest Hero ・Obtain a Powerful Weapon ・Obtain a Copy of "Guns 'n' Buns" ・Obtain a Copy of "More Guns 'n' Buns" ・Unlock the Temple of Trials The Temple of Trials option appears as blank at the bottom of the list of wishes. |
3 | Remove the Hero from your party. |
4 | Fight the superboss, the Grand Dragon. |
The main post-game activity is defeating Xenlon to have your wishes granted. However, you'll need to defeat him in less than 15 turns starting from the 3rd wish so you'll need to have a fully optimized party setup when facing him.
Things To Do After Beating DQ3 Remake
1 | After loading your completed save, teleport to the Castle of the Dragon Queen. |
---|---|
2 | Head to the back and walk into the light to enter "???". Once you've teleported to the mysterious floating island, go to the Secret Spot in the east to recruit a friendly Metal Slime. ▶ All Friendly Monster Locations |
* | Before going into the cave, you can teleport away to farm EXP and stock up on resources first. This is the longest dungeon in the game so make sure you're prepared before going in. |
3 | When you're ready, head inside the cave to take on the Mysterious Cave. |
4 | Once you're inside, go through the cave until you reach the Orochi's Lair level. Remember to also explore for any items and chests while you're in this dungeon. |
5 | Inside the volcano map, there will be a friendly Green Dragon east of the second branching path so make sure to recruit them. |
6 | From there, continue on until you get to the stairs going down. Before going through, go east first to grab the Mountaincleaver from a chest. While this is no longer useful at this point in the game, it's still nice to have it back in your inventory. |
7 | Head down the stairs to the Pyramid level and go to the southwest of the vertical path to grab a Mini Medal. Once you've got that, head down the northeastern stairs and talk to the priest. |
8 | After making a save, go back up and head down the other staircase to reach a room with a healing circle. Stand on the glyph to restore your HP and MP before continuing on. |
9 | Before heading down to the next floor, go open the chest in the northeast for a Mini Medal. |
10 | Continue on until you reach the Jail level and recruit the friendly She-Slime in the cell just north of where you appeared. |
11 | Once you've recruited them, head up to the Monster Arena level and defeat the Terror Troll to unlock the way to the Cloudsgate Citadel. |
Mysterious Cave Map and Strategy Guide
* | There are a few things to do here so accomplish them before going down the stairs to the south. |
---|---|
1 | Talk to the king and grab the Heavenly Helm from the chest behind his throne. |
2 | Purchase any items and equipment upgrades at the item shop. |
3 | Recruit the friendly Cureslime in the southeast. |
4 | Talk to the cat in the east to learn how many more friendly monsters you can recruit. ▶ All Friendly Monster Locations |
5 |
Talk to the bard in the northeast and solve their riddles. Completing them will allow you to check how many Mini Medals you need to get. ▶ All Mini Medal Locations and Rewards |
* | 1st Riddle Teleport to Theddon and examine the ground in front of the decimated church's altar to get a pair of Beast Claws. |
** | 2nd Riddle Teleport to Cantlin and examine the plant box in front of the western house to get a Dark Robe. |
*** | 3rd Riddle Teleport to Lozamii and go inside the southeastern house. Go up the stairs and examine the floor to the right of the telescope to get a Sage's Stone. |
6 | When you're ready, head down the stairs and proceed to the Citadel Tower. |
7 | Before entering the tower, you'll first pass a room similar to the Wrecking Ball house in Reeve. Grab the Cower Ring and Mini Medal from the pots before heading out south. |
1 | Start climbing the tower, grabbing any treasures on the way up to the top. The items inside the treasure chests here are much better than the Mysterious Cave's so make sure not to miss any. |
---|---|
2 | Head center of the second floor to grab a Mini Medal and Poker from the two chests. Afterwards, you can head up to the 4th floor. |
3 | Explore this floor and open the three treasure chests for a Mini Medal, some Elevating Shoes, and a Destructiball. There's also a friendly Franticore here so make sure to recruit them. Once you've got everything on this floor, head all the way up to the top of the tower. |
4 | When you're ready, head up the stairs to face Xenlon. If you want your wish to be granted, you'll need to defeat them in at least 35 turns. ▶ How to Beat Xenlon |
5 | After defeating him in 35 turns, you'll get to have one wish granted. If you want to have another wish granted, the turn requirement will be reduced to 25, and any wishes after that need to be done in 15 turns. |
6 | Recommended Wish Order ・Monster Arena ・Temple of Trials ・Weapon ・Guns 'n' Buns ・More Guns 'n' Buns ・Ortega / Trendiest Hero You can swap around the order of the top three wishes. However, it's recommended to do it in the order above since it's better to prioritize defenseive equipment, Mini Medals, and friendly monsters over stronger weapons. |

Tips to Beat Xenlon | ||
・Wear spell and breath-resistant gear. ・Learn the boss' turn order. ・Use the Hero as the dedicated healer. ・Bypass their high defense with Monster Pile-On. ・Have ways to wake up party members. |
All Xenlon Wishes | |
---|---|
1 | Unlock a new Monster Arena in Jipang's Well, as well as the Rank 10 and 11 battles. |
2 | Resurrect Ortega and unlock a short cutscene and new interactions back home in Aliahan. |
3 | Gain the ability to change the Hero's hair colour by talking to Healiza in Alltrades Abbey. |
4 | Obtain the strongest weapon in the game, Rubiss' Sword. |
5 | Get a copy of Guns 'n' Buns, which changes a character's personality to Vamp or Charmer depending on their gender. This wish can be picked infinitely. |
6 | Receive More Guns 'n' Buns, which is essentially an infinite use Words of Wisdom. |
7 | A blank option under Guns 'n' Buns that unlocks the Temple of Trials. |
1 | After unlocking the Temple of Trials from Xenlon, teleport to Mur and fly southeast until you see a shining light in the sky. Once you see it, select Enter to land inside the temple. If you find it hard to locate the light, you can teleport to Aliahan instead and fly north so it's visible from far away and you know where to go. |
---|---|
* | Unlike other dungeons, the Temple of Trials requires you to complete five different trials before you can face the boss at the end. |
2 | Explore the landing area first to recruit a friendly Slime and grab some items off the ground. The most important item to get is the War Drum in the southwest so make sure not to miss it. |
3 | Once you've got all the items, head through the southeast portal to take on your first trial. This one will require you to present four items that you should already have if you've been going for 100% completion. Required Equipment: ・Sword of Kings ・Auroral Helm ・Gringham Whip ・Mod Rod |
4 | After completing the trial, head southwest and complete the trial there next. This one requires you to give the spirit a bunch of items to clear the trial so make sure to stock up on extra copies if you need them. Required Items: ・Hardwood Headwear x4 ・Staff of Sentencing x4 ・Epic Apron x4 ・Slime Earrings x4 ・Magic Water x25 ・Elfin Elixir x25 ・Flame Armour x4 As a note, you can purchase all of the items listed above, but it will cost around one million gold if you don't have any pre-existing copies in your inventory. If you need money, it's recommended to clear the Rank 10 and 11 Monster Arena battles since they give a large sum of gold as a reward for clearing them the first time. |
5 | When you're done with that trial, go through the portal to the south for the next one. This one should also be easy to complete as you only need to recruit 100 friendly monsters to complete it. ▶ All Friendly Monster Locations |
6 | After completing the southern trial, leave the temple first to level up and restock your items. The last two trials are significantly harder since you'll need to clear two mini-dungeons while only using specific weapon types. If one of your party members can't equip a weapon type for one of the trials, you'll need to swap them out for a Vocation that can use them, otherwise, they'll do no damage and will take a heavily increased amount in return. |
7 | Once you're done making your preparations, head to the northwest trial first. This one will require you to use only Claws and Boomerangs so make sure your party members have those weapon types equipped. This trial has you navigating different teleportals to reach the end. If you plan on exploring, take note of which portals are connected so that you don't get lost. ▶ Jump to List of Claws and Boomerangs |
8 | Start by going through the left portal and following the path going right until you reach the portal at the end. Go through and pick up the Goddess Shield from the chest in that area before going back. |
9 | After getting the shield, head to the top left portal and follow the path south to reach the next area with a chest containing a Mini Medal. On the way there, ignore the 4 chests that you see as there 3 of them are Pandora's Boxes and the other chest only contains a Boomerang. |
10 | Once you've got the medal, head back and go through the northern portal to reach the east side of the trial. From here, take the portal on the path to the right to grab an Aurora Staff. This staff is actually the reason why this trial should be completed first since it can be used in battle to dispel beneficial effects, similar to Ripple of Disruption. |
11 | Head back through the portal and take the left path this time to reach the next area. When you go down the stairs, you'll see 3 chests to your left. Only open the middle one for a Conqueror's Axe and ignore the other two as they're Pandora's Boxes. |
12 | After getting the axe, head up the rightmost staircase to reach the area that has a friendly Baramonster. Recruit them and go through the portal to the right to reach the penultimate area for this trial. |
13 | This area has a bunch of arrow tiles encountered in the Tower of Rubiss and Zoma's Citadel. Remember to rotate your controls so that up is facing the orange arrow, otherwise, you might fall off. |
14 | Once you're past the arrow tiles, head through the portal to face the final test of this trial. You'll be facing a total of 6 Pandora's Boxes in back-to-back fights so make sure you're prepared before talking to the spirit. To make this part easier, you can just use Blasto to remove the boxes from battle. However, they can cast Bounce to counter this strategy so make sure to dispel it before casting Blasto with your fastest party members. |
15 | Beating this fight will complete the trial and teleport you back to the landing room. Leave the dungeon first to restock your items and make any adjustments to your team before going to the final trial. |
16 | When you're ready, head to the northeast trial, which requires you to use only Axes and Staves. Again, make sure your party members have these weapon types equipped before going in. Instead of teleportals, you'll be navigating hallways and staircases instead. Again, if you plan on exploring, take note of which paths are connected so you don't get lost. ▶ Jump to List of Axes and Staves |
17 | Start off by immediately heading down the stairs to grab another Sage's Stone from the chest behind the staircase. Once you've opened the chest, head east and take the hallway going south. |
18 | Once you're in the next area, ignore the 3 chests that you immediately encounter as they're just Pandora's Boxes and an Iron Axe. Instead, go up the stairs, ignoring the chest to the north, to get a Destructiball from the western chest. After picking up the whip, head back through the hallway and go through the north one. |
19 | Head down the staircase and go to the loop in the northeast. Ignore the chest to the north and only open the ones in the east and south for the Godbird Armour and a Mini Medal. This should also be the final Mini Medal you need so make sure to return to Aliahan and grab the powerful Exotoga as a reward for collecting all 110 of them! |
20 | From there, head through the hallway to the west and follow the path until you see the chest containing a Duplic Hat. |
21 | Once you've got the hat, head towards the stairs in the northwest to recruit a friendly Great Keeper and reach the hallway leading to the penultimate area for this trial. |
22 | This room is similar to the Bottomless Pot puzzle in Edina so you can take your time and reset the room if you make any mistakes. |
23 | After you've locked all 6 boulders in place, the door will open up and you can head to the final room for another battle against the same set of Pandora's Boxes from the last trial. Again just dispel any Bounces with Ripple of Disruption or the Aurora Staff before knocking the boxes away with Blasto. |
24 | Defeating the Pandora's Boxes will complete this trail, marking all 5 trials as finished. This will unlock the door to the superboss so make sure you're fully prepared before going in. |
* | Instead of leaving straight away, head through the portal past the door and follow the path until you see Xenlon. You can actually recruit him as a friendly monster so do this first before leaving to make your final preparations. Make sure you don't miss them since they're the final friendly monster you need to recruit. Once you've recruited all 121 of them, you will fully upgrade Monster Pile-On's damage, and you're given a copy of Guns 'n' Buns, a Godbird Robe, and Orichalcum Gloves from Monty! |
25 | Before taking on the superboss at the end, it's recommended to have Xenlon grant every wish at least once to unlock the ability to remove the Hero from your party and replace them with a stronger custom companion. However, if you're going to replace them with a healer, then it may be better to keep the Hero since they're the only one that learns Omniheal. |
26 | When you're ready, head to the end of the Temple of Trials to face this game's superboss, the Grand Dragon. Similar to Xenlon, you'll receive a reward if you beat them under a certain amount of turns so make sure your party is as strong as possible. ▶ How to Beat Grand Dragon |
27 | Defeating this boss, and clearing the turn requirement, rewards you with the Grand Medal and the corresponding achievement. It's currently unconfirmed the exact number of turns you need to beat, but it's known that you get the medal if you beat them under 18 turns. |
28 | Now that you've beaten the superboss, there is no longer anything left for you to accomplish besides completing every trophy and achievement to 100% the game. After that's been done, then there's truly nothing left to do besides enjoying the game until the Dragon Quest I & II Remakes come out! ▶ Trophy Guide and Achievements List |
