The True Name of the player will be asked and prompted at the beginning of Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake (DQ3). Read on to learn more about how the true name plays out in the game, and if you can later change it when progressing.
List of Contents
In Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, you will be prompted to choose your 'true name' at the beginning of the game. This name is not intended to provide a name for the protagonist, but to learn the actual name of the player.
The 'true name' you've given yourself will be used as a reference for the game's ending, so it is recommended that you use your actual name to increase the immersion of what the game can provide.
The only instance where you can change your 'true name' is during the beginning where the game prompts you to provide a true name in addition to the month and date of your birth.
From there, your true name becomes permanent and can no longer be changed later in the game.
