Afflicted party members take continuous chip damage during battle. After the battle, they take chip damage every time you walk.
  • Use Squelch spell from the Priest/Sage Vocation
  • Use Antidotal Herb
  • Equip Necklace of Immunity
  • Ask for Purification in the Church

    Paralysis
    Stops afflicted party members from moving for a while. Persists after battle.
  • Use Tingle spell from the Priest/Sage Vocation
  • Use Sobering Slap spell from the Gadabout Vocation
  • Use Moonwort Bulb
  • Walking in the Overworld

    Afflicted party members cannot act in battle until awakened.

    Afflicted party members cannot use spells or abilities.

  • These are all the status ailments that can be inflicted in the game. Each will have its own downsides and debuffs that might hinder your combat or greatly help you against strong enemies.

    Poison and Paraylsis Persists After Battle

    Dragon Quest 3 - Poison and Paralysis

    Both Poison and Paralysis are unique in that they persist even after the battle has concluded.

    Poison will continue damaging afflicted party members while walking in the overworld, and Paralysis will still disable movement in battle if the party comes across a group of enemies again.

    Take time to cure these two ailments with items and spells, or by walking around for Paralysis before continuing your adventure.

    Service Call is a level 17 skill from the Merchant vocation that allows them to summon a makeshift Church on the road.

    Learning this skill will be valuable when the party needs a quick run to the Church in the middle of an adventure with no towns nearby.

    Keep Your Luck Stat Up

    Dragon Quest 3 - Keep Your Luck Up

    Your Luck stat will determine how often critical hits happen and how often status ailments hit you. Keeping your Luck stat up can greatly decrease your chances of being afflicted with status ailments in battle.

    You can raise your luck stat by using a Seed of Luck on the Hero, or switching one of your party members to the Gadabout vocation.
