There are three types of potions in the game, Potions, Splash Potions, and Lingering Potions.

Potions are for drinking, while Splash Potions and Lingering Potions are for throwing. Splash Potions are absorbed by target entities, while Lingering Potions create an effect cloud on the target location, and entities that pass the location will gain the effect.

How to Make a Potion of Fire Resistance

Place the Ingredients in a Brewing Stand

Place the Base on to any of the bottom slots in the Brewing Stand, and the Ingredient on to the top slot to create the Resulting Potion. The required fuel at the top left is Blaze Powder.

How to Use a Potion of Fire Resistance

Fire Resistance protects you from most kinds of fire damage, including lava. This is especially useful when traveling through the Nether due to all the surrounding lava. Take this potion to increase your survivability against fire in game.

You can either drink a Potion of Fire Resistance, or you can throw a Splash or Lingering Potion of Fire Resistance where you are standing, to gain the effect.
