There are three types of potions in the game, Potions, Splash Potions, and Lingering Potions.

Potions are for drinking, while Splash Potions and Lingering Potions are for throwing. Splash Potions are absorbed by target entities, while Lingering Potions create an effect cloud on the target location, and entities that pass the location will gain the effect.

How to Make A Potion of Night Vision

Place the Ingredients in a Brewing Stand

Place the Base on to any of the bottom slots in the Brewing Stand, and the Ingredient on to the top slot to create the Resulting Potion. The required fuel at the top left is Blaze Powder.

How to Use a Potion of Night Vision

Learn to See In The Dark

Night Vision grants you the ability to see clearly when it is dark, whether you are journeying on land or under water. This is especially useful during the night time or when you are exploring and mining in caves. Using this effect also increases your survivability against mobs at night.

You can either drink a Potion of Night Vision, or you can throw a Splash or Lingering Potion of Night Vision to a desired location for the effect.
