MementoMori's Tower of Infinity rewards players with gear and items to strengthen characters as they progress up the Tower of Infinity's floors. Read our guide to see the characters ranked by overall usefulness in clearing the Tower of Infinity and our reasons for why you should use them.
List of Contents
Most of the characters in MementoMori have very specific uses for the different situations that the game throws at its players. Though we have ranked characters according to what we think deals the most damage or the most utility, even a character ranked lower on our list may be the most useful character to use in a given scenario.
With enemies in the Tower of Infinity consisting solely of witches, the characters listed here have been sorted in order of how many matches you can use them in, regardless of availability in banners.
Best characters that deal the highest damage or give the highest utility and can generally help you clear most floors in the Tower of Infinity with little to no trouble. | |
Characters that offer an extremely high degree of utility, although may not necessarily deal a lot of damage and/or are more situational than SS-tier characters. | |
Slightly lower damage or utility than the higher tiers, but are still good characters with useful skills. May also be useful in the early Tower of Infinity Floors and even beyond. | |
Average damage potential and utility, but can offer support or synergize with other characters. May also be useful in the early Tower of Infinity floors. | |
Below-average performance and are not recommended to use for clearing the Tower of Infinity unless in specific situations. But there are probably other characters that fulfill their niche better than them. |
Character | Tier Placement Reasoning |
---|---|
Rusalka | • Rusalka's high offensive power comes from her ability to not only the damage her enemies deal to her team, but also her PM DEF Break buffs granted by her second passive skill when her HP drops low enough. |
Primavera | • Primavera's primary function in any tower team, aside from inflicting Faints, is her ability to hit enemies in front of her. This makes her a great unit to bring along in stages where you're facing off against opponents with multi-barriers like Soltina. • Boosting her SPD to make sure she outspeeds all enemies will ensure her Faints, while increasing her CRIT increases her chances of inflicting 'Buff Immunity' on her enemies with her second skill, denying her enemies of |
Nina | • Nina's reliability in Tower of Infinity is her high Evasion. She's hard to hit and can deal good amounts of damage to her enemies. • On top of that, she can steal her enemies' buffs, depriving them of their benefits and granting them to herself instead. • Because of these factors, she's capable of taking on heavy hitters such as Amleth, Ophelia, Florence, and Cordie. |
Merlyn | • One of the best supports of the game, not only because of her ability to increase the CRIT of an ally next to her but because she can cleanse a debuff from an ally with her first skill, then purge the buffs of two of her enemies with her second skill. |
Cordie | • Just like in normal PvE content, Cordie is a powerhouse with her high speed, high damage, and relative ease to upgrade due to how relatively easy it is to get copies of her for free through the Cave of Space-Time. • However, keep in mind to stock her with ACC runes so that her shots won't miss, especially if you're on floors with Ninas in them. Cordie is also weak against stages with Soltina, so bring along Primavera and other similar units to cover for this weakness. |
Character | Tier Placement Reasoning |
---|---|
Lunalynn | • Lunalynn's main skill is her ability to inflict Silence on enemies, and the potential to inflict it on the entire enemy party if she manages to score a critical hit on all of them. Silencing enemies means that they won't be able to use their skills for the time being, |
Mimi | • Mimi's main use in a party is her Resonance ability, where she can have 50% of the damage received by the enemy with the lowest DEF be inflicted on the enemy with the highest DEF. Because of this, she can enhance the damage output of attackers like Cordie, Florence, Fia, Rusalka, and others. |
Florence | • Like in normal PvE content, Florence is an effective attacker that players can rely on to smash through most floors in the Tower of Infinity, with the only thing holding her back being her relatively low SPD and expense associated with upgrading her. |
Amleth | • One of the best retaliators in this game, as she can take damage from enemies and pay it back with interest. Since there are stages where the enemy team is stacked with heavy hitters like two Cordies, or a Florence/Merlyn lineup, Amleth is a useful character to have along. |
Soltina | • A reliable defensive tank who can take hits for your team because of her Multi-barrier ability, Soltina is also a decent debuffer who can inflict Sleep on enemies. She can also shake off any debuffs she receives, which keeps her defensive abilities up. • Her weakness is that she can't keep her multi-barriers up in the face of witches that can do multiple attacks like Florence or Primavera. |
Tainted Iris | • Tainted Iris a two-in-one unit in that not only can she defend your main attacker, but deal heavy damage herself with her two skills. However, her low SPD means you'll either need to supplement it with runes or speed-tune your party in such a way that she would still be faster than the enemy party but receive all the buffs she can before attacking. |
Summer Cordie | • Summer Cordie is a good supporting unit because her first skill increases your main attacker's ATK as well as Evasion. She also comes with her own healing skills, making her a rather versatile unit to have in your party. |
Summer Sabrina | • Summer Sabrina is a good support with her ability to inflict Faint debuffs on enemies both as her first skill as well as when she's defeated. On top of that, she can also dispel enemy buffs with her second active skill and make herself tanky with her last passive. • But you'll need to get her beyond Level 161 to get the best value out of her (because the Level 3 version of her first skill also debuffs the CRIT RES of 3 enemies). |
Fia | • Fia, just like Sivi, depends on ramping damage to defeat her enemies. But unlike in normal PvE, opponents in the Tower of Infinity could defeat your party before she can even put all that damage to bear. Still, Fia can be a useful sub-attacker |
Sivi | • Though Sivi is strong in PvE because of the ramping damage she develops as she gets hit more times, enemies in the Tower of Infinity could easily kill your team before she can even increase her attack. What you'll need are units that have higher burst potential instead. • But having her as a support would definitely |
Elfriede | • Elfriede is a capable unit that can deal very high damage whenever she's paired with witches that can inflict multiple debuffs, as her skill 'Demonic Judgment' increases her ATK the more debuffs the enemy party gets. This feeds into her skill 'Prayer for Salvation', which increases the chance of her allies to inflict debuffs. |
Belle | • Belle is a potent attacker who inflicts Bleed (continuous damage) on her enemies and dispels their buffs. She can also target enemies with the lowest HP, making her an executioner who can take down high-damage enemies. • However, she will need another witch who will buff her attacks to increase her effectiveness. |
Matilda | • Matilda is a support unit that can amplify the damage dealt by your main attacker, as her first skill increases their attack, a chance to deal a critical hit, and ACC. She also has higher survivability because of her second passive skill, which cuts the damage she receives from enemies. |
Yuni | • Yuni is a good support witch who can heal her allies with sufficient HP restoration to keep them in the fight. But her better use is as a cleanser that can remove debuffs from the witches she heals. |
Paladea | • Paladea is a heavy damage dealer who synergizes well with other Chaos Soul witches, and is also capable of removing buffs from her enemies. If she is not in a majority Chaos Soul team, however, she will have lower damage output compared to other attackers. |
Character | Tier Placement Reasoning |
---|---|
Natasha | • Natasha is a top-tier attacker, but she's difficult for free-to-play players to acquire and develop. You'll need to invest in runes and equipment to boost her STR for consistent sleep (Faint) debuffs alongside heavy damage. • This is further amplified by her self-buffs that increase ATK and later CRIT damage. Even better, she can take a beating with her 40% damage reduction ability. • The challenge is acquiring enough copies and resources to unlock her full potential. |
Hathor | • Her "Dance of the Butterflies" skill can significantly weaken enemies by halving their attack (ATK), potentially turning a deadly blow into something your team can survive. • However, her "Dreaming Dancer" passive requires her to avoid damage for three turns straight, which is difficult to achieve in most fights. • Her other passive, "Dance of the Sands," can boost her ability to inflict sleep (Faint) on enemies, but it requires investment in her to be truly effective. |
Mertillier | • Mertillier is a supportive powerhouse thanks to her "Maintenance" skill. This skill reduces the ally attacker's skill cooldown while boosting their ATK by 65%. • On top of that, her tanky skillset with Shields, healing, and Debuff RES buffs makes her a well-rounded supporter who can keep your team going strong. |
Asahi | • Asahi's main function is to take out enemies that ramp up their attacks over time before they reach their full damage potential. However, you might end up running into trouble when facing enemies with high evasion. |
Apostle Rosalie | • Apostle Rosalie is a good defensive support witch to bring along not only because of the shields she provides but also her ability to reduce the skill cooldown of the allies next to her. However, she can only do this once during the battle, limiting her usefulness. |
Morgana | • Morgana trades her HP for damage, with almost all her skills relying on her to decrease her HP for buffs to kick in. However, she does have some limited defensive capabilities with how she gets a shield from one of her passives. |
Eir | • Eir is focused on inflicting movement-related debuffs that stop her enemies from doing any actions for a few turns. Since she attacks those in front of her, she can be used to target and disable particularly powerful enemies. |
Dian | • Dian is all about keeping your main attacker alive. Her passive skill, "Heart of Servitude," boosts their EVD, making them more likely to dodge enemy attacks. • This becomes especially valuable in PvE setups like Tower of Infinity, where enemies hit harder. • Plus, she synergizes well with other high-EVD characters like Nina. While she can be a strong unit, her main focus is defense. |
Rean | • Rean can simultaneously take down two enemies under the right conditions. • However, her best damage-dealing perk, "Feisty Determination" (increased CRIT chance), only activates when she's below half health. This can be risky in later stages, where enemies hit harder. |
Fenrir | • While Fenrir can heal and dispel buffs, her true strength lies in reducing the skill cooldowns of nearby allies. This makes her a great choice if you want your main damage dealer to unleash their power more frequently. |
Claudia | • While Claudia has some powerful attacks, she has no skills that hit multiple enemies (multi-hit skills). This makes her less effective in Tower of Infinity than other attackers who can take out multiple foes simultaneously. |
Fenny | • Fenny is a solid debuffer and secondary attacker. Her "Magic Permeator" skill shuts down enemy buffs, making her a great weapon against foes who rely on getting stronger throughout the fight. • However, she needs to survive until Turn three to access her full power, which can be risky. |
Summer Moddey | • Summer Moddey thrives in extended battles like Moddey. Her power snowballs as the fight progresses. By poisoning enemies, she unlocks additional attacks, a boost to her ATK, and damage reduction. • Her ability to steal ATK from poisoned enemies might be useful against high-level bosses in the Tower (their high stats make even a 15% ATK steal significant), but it may need a good team-building strategy. • Additionally, acquiring her might be difficult for newer players since her banner hasn't appeared again. |
Winter Amour | • Winter Amour is a support unit specializing in buffing your team's SPD and CRIT. Her first skill grants a CRIT buff, but only if she lands a critical hit herself. Additionally, upon defeat, she revives and grants an ATK buff to your strongest attacker. • You'll need two copies of Winter Amour, and two of the same Soul R-rarity characters awakened into SR Rarity characters to unlock her full potential, including the ATK buff and stat upgrades that come with it. This investment might be too much for some players. |
Richesse | • Richesse shines more in PvP than PvE. Her defensive buffs target your slowest party member, which in PvE is likely a support unit that doesn't necessarily need them. • In PvP, however, this could be a strategic advantage by shielding your key damage dealer (who might be slower) from enemy attacks. |
Priscilla | • Priscilla is a beefier Fortina, both being healers who buff defenses. Priscilla ups your team's Debuff RES and heals based on her ATK. • However, investing in her ATK for better might take resources away from strengthening your main damage dealer. It's better to focus on attackers and use other healers who don't require such a complex setup. |
Witch Illya | • Witch Illya can be a devastating character, but she requires a particular team setup to function. • While she boasts a powerful, no-cooldown skill ("God Curses the Light") that can potentially wipe out the enemy team, it hinges on her party taking a combined 10 hits to activate her "God's Curse Unleashed" buff. • This vulnerability and reliance on a unique playstyle make her a high-risk, high-reward unit that requires more investment than most limited SR witches due to being a Chaos soul type. |
Artie | • Artie has potential as a support unit. Her buffs make her tankier (CRIT RES, HP), and she can weaken enemies (M. DEF debuffs). • However, her real strength comes at LR rarity. If you're not aiming to get her there, using other witches for damage and debuffs in PvE battles is better. |
Stella | • Similar to Lea, Stella brings in firepower and Silence debuff. • However, both witches are limited to single-target attacks, making them less effective in PvE where you must clear out multiple enemies simultaneously. |
Lea | • Lea brings the firepower and Faint debuff, even at base rarity. She's great at shutting down a single enemy but less effective in PvE, where you face waves of foes. • This makes her a better fit for PvP battles where taking down key targets is crucial. |
Veela | • While this limited SR unit offers a mix of offensive and defensive buffs (ATK/SPD debuffs, ACC buffs, and Shields), there are readily available, non-limited witches with similar utilities. |
Armstrong | • Armstrong might be a sturdy attacker, but other witches can dish out similar or even higher damage without needing as much investment to awaken them. • She can boost your fastest ally's CRIT chance, but since she is a Chaos character, you might be better off with another attacker who's easier to develop. |
Ophelia | • Ophelia can kind of act like a shield for your main attacker in PvE, but there are better ways to keep your damage dealer safe that don't rely on getting lucky and pulling her. |
Cerberus | • Cerberus is a strong finisher, but unlocking her full potential takes a serious investment. • You'll need to awaken her to LR rarity, which means collecting multiple copies. On top of that, her best perks, like increased CRIT chance and a 40% ATK buff, are tied to her awakening. • If you're willing to put in the resources, she's a powerhouse, but otherwise, you might be better off with another option. |
Liselotte | • Liselotte packs a punch with powerful area-of-effect (AoE) damage and crowd control abilities. • However, she's strong on offense but weak on defense. To truly shine, you'll need to build a team around her specific needs and employ strategic planning during battles. • She can be a great asset but requires more effort to be effective than some witches. |
Winter Tropon | • Winter Tropon might be a decent option in PvE for stealing enemy stats and stripping their buffs. However, several non-limited SR units (easier to acquire) can handle those tasks just as well. • While she offers additional perks like a chance to inflict sleep (Faint) on the entire enemy team, self-shielding, and Debuff ACC boost, they might not be enough to justify using her over more readily available options. |
Kaguya | • Kaguya can still provide her CRIT and CRIT ATK buffs and dish out her PM DEF Break and ATK debuffs just fine, though she will still need someone to keep her alive long enough to fire off both her first and second active skills, as well as get a debuff for her second passive to work. |
Minasumari | • Might be useful in stages where you face off against Sniper witches, and may even increase your chances of winning even as your witches get knocked out one by one. |
Summer Nina | • Defensive support witch that also cleanses debuffs from her allies. She also boosts the damage of your main attacker and provides them with a shield. |
Summer Amleth | • A good character that can be a reliable tank because her Immortality buff lasts for 10 turns and cannot be dispelled or stolen (though it comes at the price of 90% less power). However, her damage rises per turn and stacks up to 20 times, helping her make back some of her damage output. |
Milla | • A good support unit that can increase the longevity of your party with her HP buffs, especially if your team is made up of Emerald witches. |
Aine | • Just like in PvE, Aine's usefulness is limited because her second active skill requires her to shed a self-inflicted debuff that takes 10 turns to disappear in order to deal high damage. |
Character | Tier Placement Reasoning |
---|---|
Illya | • Illya's niche is putting bosses to sleep (Faint debuff for 2 turns). This can be a game-changer in boss fights where interrupting their attacks is crucial for victory. However, outside of that specific role, she doesn't offer much. |
Olivia | • Olivia's a strong support option for the Tower. She buffs your team's attack, but you'll need to invest in her own ATK stat through runes and equipment for maximum benefit. • Additionally, she can shield allies based on the damage she deals (again, ATK dependent) and weaken enemies who critically hit her. • Since she is a buffer, she needs a workable team for her to fully shine in the Tower of Infinity. |
Tropon | • Tropon packs a punch but relies too heavily on repeatedly using her first skill to ramp up her attack (ATK). She'll likely be taken down in most fights before she can even cast it a second time. • While you can pair her with witches that reduce her skill cooldowns, using a different attacker who deals similar (or even higher) damage might be more efficient without needing such a complex setup. |
Ivy | • Ivy may need a team of buffs to utilize her skills. • Her active skill lets her unleash a flurry of attacks; the more buff she has, the more devastating it becomes. |
Amour | • Even if your team fails, Amour, like Amleth, can keep fighting and survive lethal hits. • She can cripple enemies with Blight debuff, shutting down healing. • However, unlike Amleth, her attack power doesn't get a boost based on fallen allies. |
Freesia | • Freesia's a talented healer, built to keep her team on its feet. • Her buffs and heals, meant to boost EVD and DEF, might not come in time unless paired with sturdier characters since the Tower's battles are fast-paced. |
Sabrina | • Sabrina seems like she could be a strong attacker, but she lacks the skills to buff her own ATK. • Instead, she has a DEF buff that's tricky to activate as it requires 4 critical hits, and her other skills don't work well together for a damage dealer. • She can slow down enemies (SPD debuffs) and still pack a punch in the early game. |
Moddey | • Moddey's arsenal includes both Poison and Blight, and she can counter enemy attacks with her Counter-Shift buff. • However, Tower battles are lightning fast. By the time she's fully warmed up, the fight's over. To truly shine, she'd need heavy investment, and even then, she might be outpaced by faster characters. |
Gil’uial | • Both her Active Skills have a shot at Silencing foes, and that chance gets higher if she's debuffed herself. • She is a limited character, so you need to invest in her to unlock her multi-barrier defense, potentially making her a durable fighter. |
Chiffon | • Chiffon shines in PvE as a well-rounded support unit. She brings a toolbox of buffs and debuffs to the party, including defense boosts, shields, attack buffs, heals, and even Sleep debuffs for enemies. • However, she is a limited character, so investing in her may take time and resources. |
Sophia | • Sophia's ATK buffs fuel a flurry of attacks and can even heal your team based on the damage she deals. • she buffs her survivability with HP and CRIT Res increases. • As a Limited SR character, obtaining enough copies of Sophia can be challenging. Plus, she lacks built-in CRIT chance buffs, so you'll need to gear her strategically to maximize her crits. |
A.A. | • A.A. seems designed to be a self-healing tank that reduces enemy damage, but she's too expensive to invest in for PvE content where enemies quickly outscale your party. |
Valeriede | • While packing a strong punch and boasting self-ATK buffs, Valeriede may be less valuable in PvE because her skills only focus on taking down one enemy at a time. Ideally, PvE attackers should have abilities that can hit multiple enemies. |
Fortina | • In Tower of Infinity, healing might be overlooked, given its fast-paced battles. If ever your team needs a healer, there are other accessible characters you can use. • Fortina can be somewhat useful if you already have her maxed out, as she can both heal and provide party-wide shields. Other than that, players ought to choose other characters for a better investment. |
Carol | • Carol can hit up to 3 enemies simultaneously with Silence, stripping away enemy buffs or lowering their DEF by 40%. • She starts every fight by giving your team a 25% DEF boost. • However, you need to invest in her and get multiple copies to make her useful. |
Luke | • Luke leans more towards support since she can significantly weaken enemies' attacks, specifically the strongest enemy, by half. • However, her other skills focus on landing Critical Hits, which seems more like an attacker's toolkit. •While she can deal damage, you'd generally be better off with attackers like Cordie or Florence, who are easier to acquire. |
Sonya | • While Sonya boasts party-wide ATK and HP buffs, her skills focus on single targets. • In the Tower's chaotic battles, crowd control and multi-target effects often reign supreme. She might be a better fit for other game modes. |
Alexandra | • Needs good gear to deal decent damage. The resources that have to be spent on her would be put to better use with other witches (like your main attacker). |
Character | Tier Placement Reasoning |
---|---|
Garmr | • While she can slow enemies down with a 20% SPD Debuff, her attacks are pretty weak. |
Shizu | • She deals weak damage, and investing in her is counterproductive. |
Charlotte | • Charlotte deals significant damage to random enemies, with this attack weakening the enemy by reducing their attack power. Yet, other SR characters can do it as well. It is better to invest in them. |
Monica | • Monica's only real strength is healing. However, her healing depends on her ATK, so you have to equip her with gear, which can be given to better characters instead. |
Soteira | • Soteira's SPD debuffs offer some utility, but other SR character outshines her. |
Cherna | • Cherna brings a one-two punch of Faint and Bleed, but they only last for a single turn. |
Skuld | • She's a decent healer, but her healing scales with her MAG stat, so you'll need to dedicate resources to make her shine. Freesia may be a better choice. |
Libra | • Libra's Lovestruck Frenzy cuts 50% of defense from 3 enemies at once. • Unfortunately, her other skills are a bit underwhelming. |
Rosalie | • Rosalie deals a powerful 420% ATK damage and even shields herself while doing it, making her have great damage despite being an N rarity character. • However, she can't boost her own attack further, making her gear less impactful. |
Zara | • Zara hits reasonably hard, slows enemies down with SPD debuffs, and makes the enemies Faint. • However, she gets a bit squishy at low health, with a damage reduction that might not save her from a powerful blow depending on how she gets equipped with gear. • Think of her as a more affordable Sabrina. |
Petra | • Petra has a risky fighting style where she has to self-harm to deal significant damage. This high-risk approach often leads to them getting knocked out faster than other characters. |
Theodora | • Theodora is a character who offers an enemy party-wide DEF Debuff. However, her other skills are underwhelming. Plus, her Bleeding damage relies on a high ATK stat, requiring a good investment in equipment that can be better used elsewhere. |
Arianrhod | • Arianrhod may have a damage multiplier, but you need other characters that inflict debuffs on enemies. Other SR characters like Rusalka can debuff better, so it makes Arianrhod less valuable. |
Loki | • Silencing enemies is Loki's specialty, but several SR characters have the same ability. |
Iris | • She can hit multiple enemies in one turn, but there are SR characters that can do that more efficiently. |
