The best modes to play in Mario Kart World depend on each player's preference. Try out Free Roam to get a feel for the controls and flow of the game, Time Trials to learn shortcuts, VS Race and Battle to play with friends, and Grand Prix, Knockout Tour, plus Free Roam for unlockables!

Best Modes to Play in Mario Kart
Play Different Modes to Unlock Hidden Content
It is best to play as much Grand Prix, Knockout Tour, and even Free Roam to unlock hidden content like Mirror Mode in Mario Kart World.
In these modes, clear cups or get transformed by Kamek to unlock characters, earn coins to unlock karts, and complete cups to unlock other courses such as Rainbow Road.
Free Roam is Best to Learn Controls
If you are a beginner and just starting out in Mario Kart World, it is recommended to start with Free Roam to get feel with the controls of the game.
Roaming around the map will help beginners get familiar with their characters and karts, eventually getting a feel for the best combos later on.
In Free Mode, you can also find the collectibles that are needed to unlock Mirror Mode.
