To unlock Spike, you need to be transformed by Kamek while racing on the Sky-High Sundae. It seems that the character you transform into depends on the course and your location within the course.

The image above shows where we were able to unlock Spike. A racer must use Kamek at the star spot while you must be at the circle spot in order to get transformed into Spike.

Mach Rocket is recommended for Spike. With this acceleration specialized vehicle, you can make the most of the acceleration provided by actions such as rail slides and charge jumps.
