Characters under the Featherweight Class have the lowest Speed and Weight stats!
| Stat | Effects |
|---|---|
| Speed | Determines the vehicle's top speed. |
| Acceleration | Determines how quick you accelerate to top speed. Also helps recover faster when slowed down. |
| Weight | Affects the collision between vehicles. Higher Weight vehicles bump lower Weight vehicles stronger. |
| Handling | Determines how sharp the vehicle can turn or drift. |
Speed determines you top speed and is useful during long straightaways. While not the most important stat to have, it might be more impactful in Mario Kart World due to the many straightforward transition tracks in multi-track races.
Acceleration affects how fast you reach your vehicle's top speed and therefore also helps you quickly recover when stopped or slowed down by items or terrain hazards. Due to this aspect of this stat, it's arguably the most important stat to have.
Weight affects how players affected in a collision. Heavier (higher Weight) setups are less likely to be impact or knocked off course during a collision. While it's the least important stat on paper, in practice in can be quite valuable quality-of-life stat in Mario Kart World's chaotic 24-player races, where frequent bumping may be common.
Handling influences how tightly you can turn and how easy it is to control drifts. This stat is one of the most important stats to get especially for more complex tracks with sharp turns or when you aim to get specific and precise shortcuts.
In past Mario Kart games, several hidden stats subtly affected how vehicles performed. One of the most well-known examples is the Mini-Turbo stat, which influenced how good the boost you get after a drift.
As of now, there is no official confirmation or community testing that proves the existence of hidden stats regardless of character weight class or kart type in Mario Kart World. Initial testing was done as well and can be seen in the video above. The video features totally different characters and kart combos, each with different individual stats (character/kart), but identical final stats (combo). Each of the combos traveled at exactly the same speed, indicating that the different characters and karts were not influenced by underlying hidden stats.
Your character and vehicle choice directly affects your overall stats. To get the best performance on the track, choose a character-vehicle combo that balances these stats to suit your racing style.

Yeah, hidden stats are confirmed. In fact, they were confirmed before the game even released since we could see the mini turbo stat for different combos were different. But there's some sort of road type stat, where certain characters seem to get a speed boost on different road types. Not sure whether that's actually the case or not, but if it was than it's obvious that characters of the road type will be strongest online.

The confirmed hidden stats are speed boosts on road, dirt, and water. Unconfirmed hidden stats are speed boosts on sand and in the air. There is no dedicated mini turbo stat. The higher your acceleration, the longer your mini turbo is.
