Travels in a straight line and knocks over the first kart it hits.
Change from Previous Games: Will immediately attach to the back of your Kart. Now knocks your opponent forward. |

Green Shell's best use is knocking off opponents. Aim at an opponent to make them lose their lead. You can make its trajectory more unpredictable by making it bounce off the walls.
Remember, though, that Green Shells can also hit you and knock you out. Think twice before you aim them.
Like most items, Green Shell can also be thrown backwards by tilting the left stick downwards before pressing the item button. If you notice that there are enemies about to overtake you, you can press the X button to look behind you and ensure that your green shell hits right on target.
Any green shells not in use are held behind you and function as a shield against projectiles from behind. If you're in first place, it's best to have two defensive items ready.
Green Shells can only go in a straight line making it easy to dodge them. If you see an opponent about to aim their Green Shells to you, steer left or right in order to not be knocked off and retain your ranking.
Green Shells are not powerful items hence you can easily get them at higher ranks.
